so you streath a little bit, so tell people of the hazard before they do it this way you can't be held liable

The deck is constructed of a mesh material covered with porus carpet, there are ducts running below that filter the dirt out of the air,

I bet there are mini-transporters that dematerialize portions of the carpets whenever corridors are empty, then rematerialize a clean carpet.
This is just speculation, there is NO evidence to back this up.

I think that they use replicators built in to the deck plates. These replicate new carpets. Just liek clotes or dishes. when they are done they go in to the replicator and all of the dirt is removed, and the matter reclaimed to be used for Janeways coffe.think, she could spill coffee on the floor, the ship cleans the stain out and uses the matter the next time our favorite caffine addict needs a new hit.

Maybe they have sonic shower technology built into the corridor walls?

Maybe there is one of those genetic screening things that immediatly when it scan a dirt area, it zaps it away.

Just on the carpets;
Vacuuming wouldn't be quite as needed as you think. Dust can't really form aboard a vessel. Whenever an away-team beams back to the ship from, let's say a planet, all their clothes are cleaned off and go through the bio filter. Even if they were walking in mud, all the dirt and crud is not transported back.
Thus, dust or dirt never makes it aboard the vessel.
This is speculation, but it is the most logical and energy-efficient alternative. (As opposed to carpet-replicators, for example)

Why is it that whenever an away team comes back from a dirty place, their clothes are still dirty- if they run through a bio filter. I think that after each filming, there is a group of people- likely janitors- that clean up the set.

Did you see captin Kims ship in End Game, a Nova class science vessel like the Equinox that Voyager destroyed in the Delta Quaderent. Bit of a come down for Harry though, don't you think, he spent 7 years on an Intrepid class starship, the most technologicaly advanced ship in the fleet, (At the time) but when he gets a ship of his own, its a small Nova class, not a Galaxy Class (Although there are very few of those left, the do tend to explode don't they?).
After all of the space time he must have clocked up youd think that Starfleet comand would trust him with more than a little science vessel. Or am I the only one who thinks this?

They talked about him getting a promotion on one episode, but she wasn't able to give him one. which I found to be a little weird, since Paris got the rank of lt.

Voyager simply locks on to every particle of dust on the ship and beams into space

TheDefiantOne wrote: | The reason why Starfleet hasn't developed cloaking tech is simple... they can't! Not that the Federation doesn't have the science to do it, but by law, they can't. MANY years ago (from Voyager's time) the Federation signed a treaty with the Romulans (I think to end the Romulan Wars). In return for a safe neutral zone with the Romulan Star Empire, the Federation was forbidden to develop any kind of cloaking technology.
Do you remember a TNG episode, I think it was called "Pegasus". Well, the featured ship was (you guess it!) the Pegasus. The ship had been equipped with a Phase cloaking device, but the device wasn't reliable and the risks were high... When found, the Pegasus was fused with an asteroid. Other things happened including issues with Romulans, BUT, the admiral in charge of the Pegasus project was charged with violation of the Treaty of Algeron, and the deaths of all crewmembers on board the Pegasus.
If your next question is: why does the Defiant have a cloaking device? The cloaking device was donated by the Romulans to help in the Dominion War effort. The device was only supposed to be used in the Gamma Quadrant and all intelligence gathered by the Defiant had to be shared with the RSE.

Fianally! Someone got it right!!!! Starfleet is to peaceful they could have had phase cloaks before kirk was even thought about!

Most dust is formed from dead skin cells falling off of people. Therefore, dust can form on any ship with people on it. Last I checked, the Trek ships were full of people. :^)

I would guess that msot of the dead skin is cleaned by the sonic showers or beamed away during sleep.
As for the cloaks, the phase cloak was fairly advanced, allowing the ship to pass through solids, though unstable. Unfortunately the pact prevented continuation of the project. I believe picard also has used a cloak for a short period of time.

the nova class ship that kim was captain of was very powerfull, i dont know wether u saw that but the equinox was nothing compared to that one,
so if u have the choice between a small and powerfull vessel or a big and powerfull, what would your choice be?
i would go for the nova, it probably has an ablative armour generator and transphasic torpedoes just like janeway's shuttle , so very powerfull AND very manouvreveble what cant be said of a galaxy class
