Okay, I have been wondering for a lomg time what an anti-matter containment field is...does anyone know what it is? I really want to know!!!

to create power, starships use matter and anti-matter (its actually really very scientific!)
they combine atoms of matter, and atoms of anti-matter which combusts and gives alot of energy (its true!)
if too much were to mix, then it would create a massive explosion, destroying the ship... the anti-matter containment field protects the anti-matter from coming into contact with the matter (other than in the controlled flow)...

yes, which this field must be maintained, (I believe) over 18 percent, or you start to have a warp core breach. Look at the episode "Disaster" they speak of it a lot.

ya, if the field fails, they all die...
i remember that episode vaguely... isn't that with Ro, Troi, and O;Brien on the bridge? or was that ensigns of command or something like that?

Is the anti-matter containment a magnetic field or is that something else?

Disaster was the episode where a quantam filament struck the enterprise twice, and emergency procedures went into place. The three main characters Ro, O'Brien, and Troi, are stuck in command on the bridge. Heres the plot summary:
The Enterprise is between missions and is struck by a quantum filament, trapping everyone more or less where they are, killing intraship communications, and knocking out primary life support and the warp engines. Picard, trapped in a turbolift with three elementary school children, is injured when the lift first falls. Meanwhile, on the bridge, the three relevant characters are O'Brien, Ensign Ro, and Troi, who as the senior officer is placed in command. In Ten-Forward, Worf is left to take care of the wounded (and a very pregnant Keiko O'Brien) while Riker and Data head through a crawlway to try to get to Engineering. Finally, Bev and Geordi are trapped in a shuttle bay-and a plasma fire is spewing radiation into the bay, threatening both the people and some canisters of chemicals, which are likely to explode.
Riker and Data end up with their retreat cut off by a coolant leak and their advance stopped by a huge current arc. Data volunteers to use his (non-conducting) body to block the circuit, claiming that his head will survive and can be detached for use in Engineering. Riker, having no other options, approves. While Picard tries to get the children working together to get them all out of the lift, Ro manages to power up the Engineering console and finds that the warp containment field is slowly failing, which will eventually lead to the entire ship exploding.
Once the lift's hatch is open (and the children refuse to leave the injured Picard behind), the group begins working on ways to leave and climb up to an open deck. Meanwhile, Bev and Geordi decide the only way to both keep the chemicals safe and put out the plasma fire is to depressurize the shuttle bay. And, as if things weren't bad enough, Keiko suddenly goes into labor.
While Troi decides not to follow Ro's advice (namely, to separate the saucer and get the hell away from the warp engines, assuming there's no one left alive in the drive section) and sends enough power down to Engineering so that anyone there can at least realize there's a problem, Picard and the children leave the lift (just in time, as its emergency clamps fail and it falls) and begin climbing to a door that will open. Bev and Geordi depressurize the bay, putting out the fire, and Bev manages to repressurize it just in time.
Riker and Data's head reach Engineering and manage to restore the containment field just before it collapses, Picard and the kids make it to an open deck, and a very inexperienced Worf manages to successfully deliver Keiko's daughter. Later, once everything is running smoothly again, the children give Picard a commemorative plaque to thank him for all his help.

All of the fields on the enterprise are made of energy. Its just how that energy is used. SIF are fields that in place when the ship is breached. An anti-matter containment field is used to protect the antimatter/matter from exploding.

Hmm...Ive been thinking....Anti-Matter would mean...That its not materia...And if its not materia....It doesnt really exist?

No no no, its really there, thats what causes warp core breaches
I don't exactly know this stuff (i dont have any technical manuals ) so im mostly guessing.
Matter is something that takes up space, but in this case, matter is a fuel for warp engines.
Antimatter is an agent that works against matter to create a combustion. It does exist, its like Anti-aging cream (not really, this is just an example) Antiaging cream fights aging, but it is really there.
Am i right?

An Anti-Matter containment field would be a force field containing matter, right?

Antimatter is the direct opposite of matter (obvious)
matter is made up of a neutron-proton (more positive) nucleus and a negative electron, change the polarity of every single unit here and you got yourself an antimatter.
Now, to contain an antimatter, you need really strong barrier waves (of course, matter-antimatter explodes if you use matter as the containment field) to contain antimatters.
Actually, there is already a design using matter-antimatter engines for future vessels (only theoretical I believe)
It is theorized that certain parts of the universe contains great amounts of antimatter than matter as in our part of the cosmos.

It says it in its name. It contains Anti-Matter. It is bascially just a force feild designed for anti-matter.

Yup its just a regular magnetic field. All things have magnetic fields.

I do not believe gravitons have an anti-particle, do they? Hmm.

if antimatter comes in contact with normal matter, an explosive reaction occurs. This reaction is controled within the warp core, but if antimatter were to leak out of the core, it would explode. Since it obviously cannot be contained by a solid like metal which would react with it, the antimatter in the core ind within the storage pods is contained with a special force field called an antimatter containment field.
