He was second in command of security. Unlike Geordi, he didn't actually change jobs, he just got promoted.

If Worf was Tasha's second-in-command, why was he wearing the Command Red uniform, instead of the Yellow one for Security/Tatical?

Remeber those were some of the first eps following TOS. Its possible they didn't have the uniform colors completely worked out back then.
Look at Voyager's early eps. In "Parralax", Seska wears blue, but later she's always wearing yellow (until she leaves).

Seska's uniform was straightened out within an episode or two. Worf wore Command Red throughout Season 1. Surely they would have straightened that mess out by now.

Worf was Tasha Yar's assistant. He wore Command red because that was the duty track he had chosen (at that time). When Tasha died and he accepted the post of Chief of Tactical, he was switched to the Operations track and so his uniform changed.

It is Chief of Security and the tactical officer on Bridge
his Designation is in the series he is Lutinent
but he is promoted in the movie ST:Generations frm Lt to Lt.Comd

actually i believe he was not in security until tasha died he handled sensors and the science stations and sometimes the navigation station.

You're right. Plus he was Assistant Chief of Security. They dissolved both positions and combined all the duties into one - Security Chief after Tasha died in 'Skin of Evil.'
