Star Trek Books

I know that pretty much everyone here has seen at least one episode of a Star Trek series, but I don't know if you've read any of the books. If you haven't I would suggest you read one or two, because if you can get past the first few chapters, they're really a good addition to the Star Trek saga. If you have, what are they and would you recommend them to anyone. I have read a few myself, so here they are:
In The Original Series, I've read The Captain's Daughter and The Prometheus Design. Both are interesting, but you kind of have to figure out how in the world the author switches from chapter to chapter.
In The Next Generation, I've read First Contact and Maximum Warp books one and two. First Contact is based on the movie and I wouldn't recommend reading the Maximum Warp books unless you have a lot of time on your hands. Maximum Warp is excellent, and that's why you shouldn't read it without a lot of time on your hands. You won't be able to put it down.
I know this whole post is long and boring, but stay with me. In Voyager, I have read books one through six, the Dark Matter series, Pathways, and Seven of Nine. The first book is about the first episode, while all of the rest are just based on the show (these books kind of have similar travels to the actual TV series, they're just not exactly the same). The Dark Matter books are an intense trilogy based on Voyager and them having to save the whole galaxy-no, universe. I won't tell you any more because you might decide to read it, but it is probably my favorite book yet. If you're a Voyager fan, Pathways is a must-read. It tells the stories of the senior crew before they came to Voyager. While they don't have Janeway's, the book is still a good one. After I finished it, I looked at the show differently. Seven of Nine is also a good book. It's pretty interesting and I would also recommend it. You find out some interesting things about Seven and the Borg.
Okay, last paragraph. There is an additional Starfleet Academy series that tells of many of the members of Picard's crew when they were still cadets. I have read numbers 1, 9, 10, 11, and 13. They're pretty much finish-them-in-one-sitting books. They are good, though, and give some interesting info about Picard and his crew.

Well I have read the last in the Dark Matters series, I recommend that, also I am reading the first of the Gateways, I recommend them too, it is very good so far.

What series is that?

Gateways is it's own little series, but the books are based on all the television series, the first one is The Original Series, the second is Challenger, the third is The Next Generation, the fourth Deep Space Nine, etc.

The Day of Honor books include Worf on DS9, Worf on Enterprise, B'Elanna on Voyager, and I think someone in TOS.

'Mosaic' tells Captain Janeway's history. It is a good book. Even though I'm not a big Janeway fan, I really enjoyed it.

It's must-reading for Voyager fans.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Drop everything and go read TNG: Q-Squared. If you thought Maximum Warp was hard to put down, well.......

As for Gateways, its like the Day of Honor crossover, except that in addition to the four books for TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY, it also has a book for the Challenger series (based on New Earth book 6), and the New Frontier series.

Wow! I might ask my brother for that for Christmas! That sounds really cool. I'm trying to think if I've read the Q-squared book. I remember reading something with Q and Picard in it. I think the way the story goes is that Q takes Picard off of the ship and lets him tour the universe with him. I can't remember what it's called, though.

Sounds like "I,Q" or maybe one of the Q Continuum trilogy.
