He reveals himself to be a Maquis in "For The Cause" (Season 4) but is not captured until "For The Uniform" (season 5).

He was okay, he got assigned to ds9 as a security officer, then sabotaged the station just before he defected to the maquis. He got caught by sisko after using biochemical weapons to destroy entire cardassian worlds, then sisko threatened to use the same weapon on a bajoran world (only bluffing of course) then captured eddington. (or at least something like that).

Actually, Sisko DID use the same weapon against a Maquis world.

I liked Eddington's character before he was revealed to be a Maquis. Personally, I was a little bored with all the dialog he had with Sisco in subsequent episodes.
Do you remember the name of the episode where Sisco used the Maquis weapon against one of their planets?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that was "For the Uniform".

Eddington hinted he always wanted to lead/be a leader cause he starts expressing his envy towards sisko's promotion to captain in the episode "the advesary"
and he had the chance to lead several maquis rebels and took the chance.
