Today's episode was "Interludes and Examinations". For such a mild title, it had LOTs of action. However, the most profound thing I can say about it is:
Oh my God--they killed Kosh!! Those BASTARDS!!!!!
(Sorry for the language----you know the reference)
On to the rest of the episode:
The Vorlon/Shadow battle was very cool. I also liked the part where Sheridan convinces Kosh to help. I just wish Archer could be that assertive.
I also noticed the way both sides used the exact same tactic in different situaitons: Strike a small, but meaningful blow to acheive the desired results.

I've been slowly collecting the Babylon 5 series on my computer but I've yet to see a single episode! I hear it's a good show so I'm really looking forward to start getting into it.

Make sure to start at the beginning, or at least some time in season 1. It's much better that way!

Hmm...we're in season 2, correct? Last episode I saw was where that guy thinks he was King Arthur...OH! Saw Richard Biggs in my Soap Opera Digest today, about flipped--he's on Guiding Light now, was interviewed in this sci-fi magazine that I can't remember the name of...

No, this is season 3. The "King Arthur" one I think was Wednesday, the one mentioned above is the Thursday episode.
To differentiate the seasons: Season 1 had Commander Sinclair in command, season 2 is when Sheridan took over, and had the Narn/Centauri war. Season 3, now, is when they start to fight the Shadows.
MAKE SURE to watch on Monday and Tuesday, it's "War Without End, Par 1" on Monday, and Part 2 the next day. This is the two-parter with the return of Sinclair. It's also the follow-up to the Season 1 episode "Babylon Squared" (where they find Babylon 4).

Today's "War Without End, Part 1" was TOTALLY AWESOME!
Unlike many two-parters, they don't have all the action in the first half, followed by wrap-up in the second half. This one ended on a very interesting note.
To all who didn't watch today, I HIGHLY recommend that you see part 2 tomorrow.
I finally understand the Babylon 4 story arc. After seeing "Babylon Squared", I was constantly conjecturing how it would turn out that way when I finally got to see this episode, but it didn't happen at all like I expected.

I'm not going to talk about EVERY B5 episode, but I'll post my thoughts here when they strike me.
Thursday's episode was "Grey 17 is Missing." That is commonly regarded as one of the worst B5 episodes ever. I suppose I should agree, but it wasn't ALL that bad. There was little point to the primary plot, but the secondary plot was pretty good. I think this was the first use of the Ranger catchphrase, when Marcus shouts while fighting:
"I am a Ranger! We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We live for The One. We die for The One!"

I want to watch the series from the beginning. Do I start with "The Gathering" or "Midnight On the Firing Line" ?

Personally, I don't know. I'm only seeing each episode for the first time myself. I only got fully "hooked" after seeing the S1 episode "Babylon Squared". I haven't even seen either of those yet.
However, I would recommend "The Gathering." It doesn't have much to do with the story arc, but its as good a place to start as any.
