I found on Limewire, a copy of a script by George Lucas, called "The Star Wars." I think it's an early draft of A New Hope.

It's so incredibly different, and yet it shares some similarities with the movie as it aired. There are some scenes that are identical to the movie, others which never happened, and even the roles of certain characters are changed.

"General Luke Skywalker" is a old Jedi-Bandu general. He reminds me of Obi-Wan from the movie, except he's still an active general.

Alderaan is the capital of the Empire.

Skywalker's apprentice is "Annikin Starkiller". The script actually uses the word "Padewan" in reference to him, so it wasn't invented just for TPM.

Seethreepio and "Artwo" started out on an Imperial Station, not a Rebel ship. In fact, the Rebels as such don't exist. Despite certain similarities, the opposition faction is a single planet, Aquilae, which is not unlike Tatooine.

Vader isn't a Sith. He's just an Imperial General. The Sith warrior is "Prince Valorum" (another name that ended up in TPM).

And then there's the story, which is significantly different from how the movie turned out. Did you know a Stardestroyer is actually a two-man fighter????

Here's a direct quote from the script:

Quote:

80. SPACEPORT ALLEYWAY - GORDON - AQUILAE

General Skywalker embraces Han Solo, the underground contact.
Han is a huge, green skinned monster with no nose and large gills.

I'm not kidding, here!

OK, I finally finished reading the script. I can see elements of all the movies so far in it----it's like GL just picked apart that original script and incorporated nearly every scene into one of the movies. They even desccribed a kind of tank which reminded me of those Trade Federation tanks.

There was 2 attacks on the Death Star, the first at the beginning (failed) and the second at the end. There was a scene where they escape through an asteroid field. One scene sounded suspiciously like the bunker assualt in ROTJ but with Wookees instead of Ewoks. It seems, originally, Wookees (spelling used) were supposed to be from Yavin 4.

I downloaded it from Limewire, so I'm not sure you'll be able to get it. I'll email it to you (MS Word 97) if you want.
