If this latest movie is welreceived by the audience, why shouldn't they make a new tv-serie also?

No reason why they shouldn't, i would like to see a newer version of the 1960's TOS version redone all over again with the lastest star trek movie cast.

I dont think they should
it was a great movie and all some really huge trekkies are not going to like them rewriting STAR TREK. even though its an alternate reality

What does this topic have to do with the show Enterprise?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they are in talks for a new show. I'll have to find the links. A new show might be good for the franchise. The movie was a clear success.

I do not think it does...perhaps you should move this topic to General Star Trek Discussion?

Now that this new Trek formula has worked there's no reason not to try a new series but there is a scare about market saturation.

That's right, I am a major ST fan but the minute I saw the Enterprise I knew I wouldn't be able to watch it. First, it i s a good idea to show some past of the Star Trek, when there was a maximum of warp 5, but to make a series out of it? After a while the search to show new things in a technically reduced environment becomes desperate, plus with this concept the show becomes "last tuesday, call me when they reached a higher level of technology".
The other thing: the music with the images of American starships, American flags was a bad idea. Star Trek has become a global phenomenon, when they start to force-feed you Americanism through it many people just stop watching. Star Trek was always about all the nations of the world united. It's one of the reasons it became so popular.
The pilot with the Klingon in the cornfield? Come on, it looked like something from the X-files. Too down-to-earth, not enough detachment from the present. Star Trek was good because the whole environment was so new, so futuristic. The settings of the ship had to be kinda lower tech too, they were at that, but that desn't mean they looked smashing.
Bakula as captain: we all loved him in Quantum Leap, but as a captain, he is a failure. He is not a figure that has authority. He's more like the character he played in Quantum Leap: a likable fellow, who you sympathize with. Of course they tried the Kevin Sorbo recipe, the guy was great in Hercules, look, he was even better in Andromeda! But whereas Kevin is all about authority, you can't command a starship with a face and voice like "come on, please move..."
I am all for a new Star Trek show, and I think the fans are not in any kind of "saturation", it's just that Enterprise was not "Star Trek" enough. It was a series of bad decisions from which after a while they tried to do the best.
Come on, guys, we do want new star trek, but make it kickass, like the previous ones!

New series shouldn't be about the timeline created with the new Star Trek movie. It should be about the original timeline. I would prefer one after Voyager got home, with a new Enterprise with a Cardassian as new crew member and they will be exploring the Beta or Gamma Quadrant. Meaning lots of encounters with either Romulans or Dominion. Beta quadrant owuld be cool regarding a war between the Klingon's and Romulans. With of course the Borg at the background.

Well Enterprise was the last of the series untill now i believe.

I would like to see that StarTrek is brought into another aproach of making the series. Another aproach than they are used to.

The special effects of the movie used into a more realistic vision of StarTrek. A bit like BSG. Even a bit like Alien. What they did in the movie are good visuals. So it must be possible.

And they should use some writers that are able to make a plot that is longer than one episode. A bit like in Enterprise season 3. A verry good season. The closesd version of a modern version of StarTrek untill now (for tv ofcourse) Season 4 was a desaster.

I am up for a future or past series, just as long as there is one.

I would love a series that focuses on a planet, say, Qonos, or Vulcan...

Sort of a reverse TNG, where we get the random visitor and watch their interaction with the planet, rather than the norm.
