The movie was fantastic.
Action was great, it had a lot of funny bits.
Overall Movie is 10/10 ..

Just saw it, and I am well-pleased!!!
Yes, there are some things I can pick apart, and there was some surprising stuff in there. Very glad I read Countdown, too; it gave me a great sense for what was going on.
Action was great, humor was a great touch, and still quite-true to Trek, despite some things you could pick apart. Whereas I was skeptical beforehand, I'm now hoping they keep going with this return to the originals.
Not to mention the acting was great - especially Bones! I mean, did that seem like it was actually Deforest Kelley or what!?

Yes, yes, and yes!!! I too just returned from seeing this movie and to me it was epic! I look forward to Star Trek 2 (what 14 actually? lol) and I so can't wait...when this one comes out on dvd I will watch it over and over and over again! 10 out of 10 for sure!
On a side note, I think all the actors did a great...no, epic job of staying true to their respective characters while at the same time adding small, but noticable, twists of their own to the characters...AWESOME! It's amazing to know that Kyle Urban (Bones) is a Brit - he got that voice down perfectly. I remain floored by his performance in particular, but everyone's in general.

I saw it too. it was awesome. Only way they could have pulled it off.
The actors where modern but still true too the old characters. they kept the spirit alive. Some things they did or said wouldn't have appeared in TOS, but i like that idea.

Sometimes i saw scenes that reminded me of Star Wars episode I: The Phantom Menace though(like the jellyfish ship)
Definitly will get it when it comes out on DVD.

I dragged one of my star trek hating friends to the theatre. Afterwards I had to wait for him to come out of the bathroom. As he walked toward me I just pointed at him and said, "don't you dare lie to me, you know you liked it." He started laughing and said. "that was fricking awesome!" That just says it all, and that came from a guy who didn't want to go even though I was paying for his ticket. Simply amazing!

That's awesome! I'm saying the same thing to my dad and brother - they're going to see it with me soon, and they're gonna love it. Now I've got more ammo to tell them...Star Trek haters love it, too!

I saw it at a drive-in theatre on Saturday, so we were able to turn the sound way up inside of our car which was awesome!
Omg! I thought the movie was fantastic!! I absolutely loved it!! I'm not a super huge fan of the movies, so I wasn't sure what I'd think of it, but I seriously absolutely loved it!! I'm going to go see it again after work !!
I can't wait! Anyone want to come to minnesota to see it with me??

The movie made $76.5 million in its opening weekend. Before this, First Contact had the record for Trek movies with $30 million. Awesomeness!!!!

Some people were talking about how there wasn't a big enough connection between the crew and the ship. The Enterprise is almost a character itself, some were saying. Yes, i absolutely agree the Enterprise is a character pretty much. However, it's a brand new ship, and the crew is all new to it. My personal thoughts on it are that it's hard perhaps to the crew to have a personal attachment to the ship that's just new to them. Kirk was JUST named captain officially of that ship. Once he gets his hands "dirtier" on it, then I think they're be able to involve the ship and grow a more personal attachment to it.

Just saw it tonight at last,came home now,almost midnight here
One word :
AWESOMESAURUS
The cast,the special effects,the story,everything.It had the humor and action and the crew chemistry and interesting characters that makes Trek....well,Trek.Cant wait for the DVD.
Also got to see the beginning 10 minutes of the movie twice cause the projector guy was new and started too early but then 90% of the people came in on the official time ,so he had to restart.Those of us already there didnt mind XD
First trek i got the oppertunity to see on the big screen too.Got extreme optimism now that its the major reboot and rez the franchise needed after it all became too bloated and stagnant around the Enterprise series time.(heck,will always love TOS,TNG,DS9 and Voyager but at the end of that era....it was as if it couldnt go anywhere new and all we were gonna have was endless reruns untill some hero director and such came and saved us)
Saw on some boards theres some people that DIDNT like it though,who call themselves hardcore trekkers,and their upset about the changing timeline etc.*Shrugs* Their just being stubborn.One of the essences of Trek is in dealing with change (galactic/personal/time) anyway ;/

Don't forget about inflation though...ticket prices also cost more now than they did 10 years ago. But it was still amazing!

^If I remember right the $30 million does count for inflation.
I have to say my favorite part was the opening sequence though. That was AMAZING! I get goosebumps when it starts out and there's those signature Star Trek beeps. haha

The best parts were the nokia ring tone and tyler perry, 
I thought it was pretty good. Trek needs to get over it's catwalk fights, though.
It was also mad cool in the imax yo

I know. I thought it would be cheesy to hear the old sond effects but they blended perfectly. I really want to go see it again and its only been a week!

Seconding the request for topic that people can talk freely about the movie,and ask questions and stuff,without worrying about spoiling it for those who havent seen it yet...though by now if you havent seen it yet how CAN you call yourself a trek fan ?! Kidding.
IntrepidIsMe : Wasnt sure about the fight,if it was a tongue in cheek reference to Trek that has gone before (like the expendable ensign,the trademark beeps,etc) and thus Nemesis,or if they just thought it was the best option to go with.It was way better than the Nemesis one of course imho XD And if they werent going to do it there the question would be where else would have been a good location ? The main command area would be too dangerous because i got the distinct impression from Countdown after what happened to Worf that the ship is sort of semi sentient due to the Borg tech.
