PostThu Apr 23, 2009 9:25 pm    Tony Gonzalez

Today is a very sad day for me. The Kansas City Chiefs have traded my favorite player of all time to the Atlanta Falcons for a measley 2nd round pick in next years draft.

Tony Gonzalez owns NFL career records for tight ends with 916 receptions, 10,940 recieving yards, 76 recieving touchdowns, 26-100 yard games, 4-1,000 yard seasons and 10 pro bowls.

He will be missed...

As we say in hockey-talk

"If Wayne Gretzky can get traded, anyone can."

Always sucks to see a favourite player get traded or sign with another team, though.

Yup and it just adds insult to injury when the team gest so little in return. I mean, a second round pick next year...come on

IMO, second round picks are gold. If 98% of first rounders make the pro-bowl, 96% of second rounders do. And you pay them next to nothing. (stats from ESPN radio). The Patriots loaded up on second round picks this year, especially as our D is pretty old.

Yeah, but Gonzalez was our best player. I wish we got a second rounder from this year rather than next year.

Yeah, he is an excellent player. Hadn't he been saying he wanted out for awhile now?

He requested a trade last year when they were playing horribly, but he didn't request one this year. He told the new regime that he would give 100% if he remained a Chief, but he requested that they trade him to a contender if they decide not to keep him.
