The very thought is ridiculous. Under Chakotay, Voyager would have gotten blown up or assimilated or sucked out of existance somehow, within a month!

And your basis for this argument?

He seemed to do just fine as the captain of the Maquis ship, no? Had the respect of his crew, survived the Federation and the Cardassians. Any time he was left in command of Voyager he did just fine, no?

Haha well, I guess your right, but I just think that's because they weren't gonna write Chakotay as failing at everything. The only basis I have really, is that he was such a dumbass most of the time. Like when, for example say, Harry and B'Elanna would be briefing Janeway and Chakotay on some crazy idea they'd had, then Chakotay would just stare into space and not get it...but Janeway would and she'd explain it to him. And when the senior officers would be trying to think up a way out of some terrible predicament and Chakotay would be like...*insert dumb idea here* and then everybody else would be like no no, that wouldn't work, but this would! And Chakotay would be left feeling dejected. It was exactly the same with Riker on TNG!

When did any of that ever happen? I think you're confusing Janeway with Chakotay. Janeway had the dumb ideas, not him.

For example, Chakotay was the one that created the whole "Scorpion" plan. If it hadn't been for him, Janeway would have gotten the crew assimilated.

Or maybe when Chakotay stood up to Janeway over the torture of a Starfleet officer? His reward for that was being imprisoned no less...

Trust me, those things happened. I've seen every episode like twelve times. But you make good points. It's just my opinion! Which is biased anyway, since I hate Chakotay.

Me personally I don't think so because he didn't have the proper training to captian a starship. And I highly doubt that a Maquis ship would have lasted as long as Voyager.

Didn't Chak leave starfleet as a commander? It's been quite awhile since I've watched VOY, so I'm not definitely sure.

Your VOY is quite rusty T lol...however, on this matter, I do believe you are correct...although my VOY is just as rusty, if not more rusty, than yours.

All I can say is yes, probably, but the series would have sucked if they got home sooner. I wish they had been lost for another couple of years!!

What made him a "liberal douche"? Same with Janeway?

I still think Chakotay would have gotten them home faster, but then again he wouldn't have gotten them stranded in the first place...
