this topic might be locked or moved since this is more of a general topic and not fully related to voyager...but ohwell im no moderator so i have no such amazing powers to do so.....
thats a very broad question to awnser....historically, tech wise, offense/defensive capability, etc.
the best ship that is built for offense i would say is the defiant class ... specifically the uss defiant nx-74205 once it got the romulan cloaking device...
the best ship historically is a topic all in itself due to every enterprise, voyager, and the defiant had HUGE roles in history around the universe
the best ship overall however i would have to say is the Enterprise D, or E...they are both built as battleships that can both defend or attack most any ship and at least limp away from the battle, they both have amazing scientific capabilites, and have had major roles in history be it defending against the borg in the present or the past, saving alien cultures by acting as a trasport vessel, or by saving them using muscle....any ways i could babble on and on with this subject, but those are a few of my thoughts

Actually ilikefire2008, you have a point...this is more of a General Star Trek Discussion topic, so moving to the appopriate forum, thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Secondly, on a un-moderator note...I also agree that as far as the best ships are concerned, Enterprise's D AND E are the two that I would also choose, mostly for the same reasons, and because of the history behind each vessel. However...if we are talking about any starship in general...I would have to go out on a limb and say that Shinzon's ship (forgot the name) from Star Trek : Nemesis is hands down the best ship out there because of it's history in Nemesis and the fact that in order to defeat it...the Enterprise-E actually had to crash into it head on to do any sort of damage to it and give the Enterprise the tactical advantage temporarily. In the end, if the battle would have went on longer, the Romulans hadn't intervened, and perhaps a more battle-tested commander was commanding her...I would have to go out on another limb and say Shinzon's ship would have meant the end of the Enterprise-E and her crew...so all in all...Enterprise-D and E if we are talking about Federation starships, but Shinzon's ship if we are talking about any starship in general.

The best ship. Enterprise-E, without a doubt.

Id go for the Enterprise-D. I would say its the most versatile of the lot. MY personal favorites are the Excelsior & Intrepid (from enterprise). I'm not too keen on the Enterprise-E yeah sure its faster and more powerfull than the Enterprise-D but it doesnt really seem like a city in space like the Enterprise-D did

Definately Voyager. The Enterprise-E may be newer in design than Voyager, but as a ship, the Enterprise-E is pretty...inexperienced...if ya know what I mean? If ships could be experienced and wise, Voyager would be it. Voyager has been there, done that and worn out the t-shirt. I just don't believe there's anything that ship couldn't overcome! With the important factor of it's good crew coming in, of course.

This seems purely a personal preference since all ships have been instrumental in "driving" Star Trek forward. I will say Enterprise D was my favorite, especially for its seperation sequence. Then along came the racehorse design of Enterprise E. Speaking purely from an aesthetic standpoint I would put a downpayment on one of those Sovereign class battlecruisers any day of the week.

Clearly Enterprise C was the best. Sure, it doesn't have the latest weapons and shielding technology, but its agility more than made up for it. On more than one occasion it dodged more than several torpedoes.
hands down.

Enterprise-C was the Ambassador class commanded by Captain Garrett in the STNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise." Tasha Yar made her comeback in that episode and set the stage for her half Romulan daughter Commander Sela to make her appearance later in the series. Is this the Enterprise you mean? Because your discription could go either way to B and to D.

The future enterprise d from all good things was pretty cool, 3 warp nacelles, a cloaking device and that wiked cannon on the bottom of the saucer. with a little refitting a galaxy class could be a really powerful ship. lots of room for evacuations and stuff too.
