could we please get a "report post to moderator" button? This way the mods would get a nice list of the spam they have to delete. It'd make their work easier and more effective, and the daily clean-up would go faster.

I just killed a whole bunch of them.
Usually I just hit "posts since last visit" at the top of the screen when I get on and then I can nab all the new spam without having to comb through the forums.
We've been trying to figure out ways to prevent the spam from gettting in to begin with, but I think some of the tools we implemented could have been affected by the lost data from the server that crashed.
In terms of speed, the spam will only be deleted as often as there is a mod on who has access to that particular forum. We do our best, but we can't be on 24/7.

I keep my own boards spam free by having altered the registration settings from "user can activate account" to "account activation by Admin".
Every evening I check the new accounts and sort out the spammers. They are easy to recognize even if they don't have *beep* links in their profiles as they always pick the template that's first in alphabet and it's highly unlikely that anyone would use "christmas" in August, especially if "christmas" isn't the default template.
This way they can register, but they can't post their b******t and as long as their accounts are inactive, no member can see their profile either.
On a board as big as this one, though, my method would propably be too much work. That's why I suggested a spam alarm button.

Yeah, given the size of the board that would be very difficult.
I don't know how easy or difficult it would be to put a button in. Or how practical it would be. The mods are really good about deleting the spam when they get on the site, and I don't think that a list would make them get on faster.
It is a really good idea though, and I wonder if there is a way to make it such that posts reported as spam are hidden from users until it's deleted or removed from the list. That could be really complicated though.

I try to keep up with deleting bot registrants and I did delete the ones you mentioned above. Thanks.
Also, the admin approval thing will slow down bots, but we'll also lose real users too. Personally, I wouldn't wait around for approval.

Knock on wood, it seems that they have stopped comming around.
And thankfully, Morphy didn't have to activate the 'administrator must approve account' thing to get rid of them!

Since you are doing this, would you mind also including the name of the person? (saves on opening windows, and those of us on dial up are appreciative, )
Took care of the little runescape person w/ 20 posts.
