I think that the Republican campaign owes this man an apology, if nothing else. |
I too really appreciated his point about "what IF he's a muslim?" I heard on the radio tonight a commentator (I did not catch his name) that said it was valid to question a muslim, because not all muslims are terrorists but almost all terrorists are muslims.
Now, you see, in my experience, not all christians are child abusers (a truly vile form of terrorism) but almost all child abusers in the US are christian. Does that mean I distrust all Christians? Not as a rule. Does that mean all of them get a free pass? Obviously not. All religions have idiots in them, who are empowered by their religion to be idiots... mothers who damage their own children because the kids were acting 'against god.' It's an excuse, nothing more.

Well. If we're listing things that scare us. I'm scared of snakes.
Early voting is on in Texas and various other states. I get to cast my ballot today. ^.^ I heard that there are so many people early voting in Dallas that it can take 45 minutes just to get through the line. Sounds like turnout is going to be pretty good this year.

I am to, Syd. Hate the slimy buggers... Though what scares me is the fact people find it frighting that someone may be voting for the other side. Just sad, really.
I voted in an absentee ballot, as I wouldn't be registered in the state of Florida long enough to be able to vote in the election. This will be an interesting race, for sure.

There are some feelings of relief on this side of the pond this morning.
I think this is the election I've been most interested in, as like it or not who is president of America does affect things for those in other parts of the world. It was weird watching the Twitter election feed last night- the appearance was that those on the internet were mostly wanting to vote for Obama. Maybe this is because of the demograph of users who use Twitter- I don't know. But it certainly interesting to watch.
Of all the campaign promises Obama has made, I think closing Guantanamo Bay is the one I want kept most.

I have to say, I've been with Obama for over a year and a half, before he was considered a "likely" candidate. I still can't believe the day has come.
On the barackobama.com blogs, many of his supporters (hundreds so far) have written in asking for a new mission. Something to do, now that they have a leader. The organization here is astounding--there are thousands of people willing to give money and time to this man, imagine what you can do with that. With this kind of organization in fundraising, I believe we could rid the world of tuberculosis by 2012. It's not unrealistic. These are the kinds of goals the organization needs now. Obama's supporters changed the course of a nation, I believe we can do more than that.

Greetings one and all. I just wanted to chime in real fast on the election by saying, yes, I'm disappointed in the results and concerned politically for the future of our country, but this is a tremendous accomplishment for our nation, electing our first African-American president. It's something to be proud of and to take pride in as Americans. I am an American first, and unfortunate though I may find the outcome to be, I can't help but feel my own sense of pride in the outcome.

I am disappointed as well, but life goes on lol. But, Obama is going to find out real quick he will not be able to do stuff he said he is going to do when he is in office. Plus, people will get mad at him like all the other presidents. Cause all politicians lie and cheat.

I believe there is no hope with him or any other ... Yeah this country is doomed with him. Til next election, maybe someone better will come along which I doubt. I don't have faith about a better president. cause they all let us down. until someone gets in that is good enough then there will be hope again. No telling when that will be again.
he is trying to make america a communist/socialist country. no we don't need him...

... I wish sometimes that people could look beyond petty religiously/politically/emotionally biased thoughts to realize that maybe... JUST MAYBE... this man may do more good than anyone could expect out of him.

Everyone is biased. Having an ideal set complete with people in the media that you listen and agree to the majority of the time gives you pre-conceptions about politicians and people that are far from objective. No one is free of bias entirely, but people can try to see past their preconceptions and hope for the best. It would be nice if more people could do that.
I, for example, was less inclined to be optimistic about the actions of the senators in my state because they do not share a majority of my values. Texas has two republican senators, one of which I dislike very much, and the other is Kay Bailey Hutchinson. She does not share a lot of the ideals that I do, however, she is a good senator and has done a number of positive things for my state and even my family. It doesn't mean I agree with her, but I do not believe she is going to destroy the senate and the world and cause a doomsday armageddon whatever just because she thinks differently that me (That sentence was poorly structured intentionally).

Where was everyone defending President Bush like this when all of the angry Democrats and liberals were wailing in 2000. Moreso, where were they in 2004 when we had an even worse reaction to his election from liberals. If you ask me, this years post election talk has been very pleasant compared to what we have had to listen to after the previous two elections.
