PostWed Jul 30, 2008 11:11 pm    Why no BIG PRODUCTION MOVIE?

I have to be honest, I resisted "Voyager" for a long time, unwilling to give it a chance, blinded by the brilliance of "The Next Generation". But I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in the fact that there was no follow up to the final episode "Endgame". In my humble opinion, I think that there should have been (at least) a follow up (big production) movie called "Star Trek Voyager:Alpha" (or something of the like) Telling about how things ended up for the rag-tag, unorthodox crew of Voyager. It is now 2008, 7 years since the crew made it back home. Why no follow up? Let me know how you feel people!! Live long, and prosper.

I'm firmly on the side that if any Star Trek series is going to be followed up on, it should be Deep Space 9, given all of the unfinished plotlines that remained. It may have been interesting to see what happened to the Voyager crew, but not as necessary as the resolution to Sisko and his baby, Odo and the Dominion, Bajor joining the Federation, rebuilding Cardassia and the like.

Either way, it has been a while since either series, so a movie involving Voy or DS9 is unlikely at least for some time. And anyway, they're too busy with prequels now to do anything cool. I wouldn't rule a VOY, DS9, or DS9/VOY movie out, though. It was a long time between the end of TOS and the movies that followed.

Why can't they just follow in the footsteps of star-gate and make a straight to dvd movie. It would still be great and it would tie up all the loose ends. They could even do several of them for both DS9 and VOY.

I completely agree> If there is not going to be a big production, in theaters movie, they should do a dvd thing. I wish I had connections to Brannon Braga, or Rick Berman!

I know that DS9 and VOY have had petitions online for years that have been sent to Braga and Berman, but obviously, nothing's been happening. There were some murmurs of maybe some made-for-TV movies or miniseries, which I think would also be worth doing. Anything would be better than nothing.

I think they should've made a big production where they actually get back to Earth and see their family and friends.

Star Trek movies haven't done well in theatre lately. I think it would be more cost effective to do the dvds.

Voyager wasnt popular enough to warrant a movie.

Voyager and DS9 were never popular enough in the ratings to get them movies. I think the most we can hope for is a quick appearance by a character in a movie, like Janeway in Nemesis.

But I would love a canon follow up to Voyager, there were so many questions left uunanswered

And thats EXACTLY why I would love to see a Voyager movie all on it's own! What happened between Seven and Chakotay? Tom / B'Ellana / & The Baby? Harry Kim? etc? and what was Voyager's next mission and newest enemy? I need answers people! lol

To put it bluntly, there's a large fan base out there that thought the series sucked. While sites like STV may have a group that wish to see it, the average rating per episode speaks for itself, being low enough that Voyager faced cancellation around the third and fourth seasons if things did not improve.

Also...since when did those in charge of trek actually listen to the fans? They barely (if at all) even listen to the actors (many whom of each series, have said in interviews they'd be willing to reprise their roles...).

Then, there's the unfortunate side effect that its stone cold fact that many actors caused problems on the set. While no one expects every actor on every production to be goody goody two shoes and be best friends with one another, its clear from recent articles and interviews that some of these actors would just as soon never met the other actors. The behavior of some of them (such as Garret Wang) also would make the execs hesitant on depending on them again.

It probably also has to do with the fact that the series premise, and goal, getting home, was met in the series finale.

Well they are professionals, if they don't like each other they still need to do their jobs. Most of the actors from most of the series have repeatedly said they would be thrilled to reprise their roles.

the only question in Voyager that was answered was that they got home, there was a ton of other questions left wide open, for example:

1) The fate of the Borg
2) The status of the Maquis crewmembers when they got back, are they still criminals that will be put in jail, or will they be pardoned
3) The crewmembers from the Equinox, what will be their fate
4) The freed Borg from Unimatix Zero, what are they doing now, will they seek the federation to help them unasimilate, will they group together and attack others?
5) Species 8472. "Boothby" was unsure of whether or not the other groups would agree to peace with humans. Did they agree? Is there still an attack being planned?

Some of those questions were answered in the following books.

Well Bryan Fuller has said that he wants to do another Star Trek TV show...

If we started something about wanting a miniseries or tv-movie...maybe he'd consider that!

PostSun Nov 02, 2008 6:30 pm    MOVIE

Hello everyone.

I am currently polishing a first draft STV script called 'Redemption', which I need to cut down from its current size of 2hrs 40mins.

I decided to write it about 18 months ago when I have some spare time at night after watching Voyager all the way through for the first time.

It left so many unanswered questions, I felt I would have a go answering them.

It is connected with 'The Gift' and 'Endgame' and I felt compelled to write it because I believe the story is very good.

The Borg, Species 8472, Klingons etc are in it as well as a terrifying new race, kind of hinted at by Admiral Janeway in Endgame. As well as the Voyager crew I have characters from DS9 and STNG - Ryker, Q, Quark and Reginald Barclay in it.

I have seen bits of the new film and believe it will be a good film as it has had money spent on it and good actors and cannot be allowed to fail and I don't believe there will be room for a Voyager Film.

I believe the best Voyager fans could hope for is a made for DVD film at worst my script will make a cracking read. As my title hints at 'Janeway' will go through hell, you don't alter time without serious side effects.

Wish me luck, as I'll need it.

Pudleoni

The cost of doing a film (building ship sets, visual effects) and paying legacy actors would really lead to a 4 or 6 hour miniseries not a 2 hours straight-to-home-video movie.
It is like if they are going to do it Paramount has to get their money's worth from fans and the actors are 'signed up for 2 more' films.

I could see them doing some sort of ST:TNG straight-to-video miniseries but would try to sell it at least in foreign TV markets if the USA TV market wouldn't buy it first.

I believe he is correct. Voyager probably will live only in those 7 seasons.

The Voyager books pick up at the exact moment where EndGame fades to black and we find out what happens when Voyager gets home. And it's not a happy homecoming with fireworks like we saw at the beginning of End Game.

I read the first 3 post-Voyager books and when I started the fourth, a major character was dead! I had to resort to the internet to find out when this character died and found out it was in a TNG book so I had to read it too. I'm not going to say who died in case others want to read the books too.

There's a new Voyager book due out in October (I think) and I'm hoping this character is not really dead dead.

Argh, this statement always drives me nuts! That was most definitely the premise of the SHOW, but not of TREK. So the show accomplished its goal, but there's much more to Trek that these characters can provide.

I think with the new movie and what it established, a VOY movie is a 100% out of the question. A DS9/VOY movie should have been made intstead of Insurrection/Nemesis.

I'm not sure. Next generation , they were involved in the "moviebusines". DS9 en VOY were not. Now they are going back to the originals for this latest movie, and that is owkay. But for DS9 en VOY its a bit like the series don't get the credits they deserve(or not). Of course I'm nog sure, what would it mean, a movie with Janeway back in the captains chare. Hm i do not know it seems to be not such a good idea.
(sorry for my writing, I'm a dutchspeaking member here)

I agree on that. But the Trek formule, A ship traveling trough the stars, wel than they have choise out of 4 series to make a movie. The Originals, Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise. I don't believe you can make movies of them all. The concept of these series is almost similar.

How about a TV movie which would go to dvd with both DS9 and Voyager?

(Ihate to say it, but everyone is commenting on why Star Trek fails. Star Trek fails because no one wants to here about peace anymore, it's all action now(not that thats bad at all). But that is why they won't make anymore) (wrather that Star Trek XI
