Good morning, afternoon or evening!

Basically, Spacimens! is a hybrid animation: it's 70% Trek parody, 25% Sci-Fi parody and 5% cultural references. Most of the action takes place aboard the USS Nebulon, a ship that resembles the Lexx far more than the Enterprise. This initial animation sees Captain Rex R. Expedition and his crew face off against the Gonoreans, an old foe who were thought to be extinct following the Venereal Wars. As you can probably imagine, a lot of the animation consists of mild sexual innuendo, so if you're easily offended, this probably isn't for you.

Characters

Captain Rex R. Expedition - requires a voice that is somewhere between Kirk and Picard, preferably - authoritative, strong and expressive. Oh, and American.

Audition line = "Its quite obvious weve reached a stalemate here, and theres only one way to settle this. Open bracket. Squints menacingly. For the love of God, you idiot, stop reading the stage directions from the autocue. Close bracket. "

OR

"Space. A damn expensive frontier. This is a paraphrased narrative prologue of a far better sci-fi series, but more importantly, these are the endeavours of the Starship Nebulon TNG 4TWTurboon our potentially never-ending mission to harvest strange new worlds. To seek out new life, and enslave it under the banner of humanity. To boldly go where no real man has gone beforeand to laugh at the Russians for beating them there!"

Flock - naturally, the voice has to be monotone and, well, similar to Spock's. No sheep imitators, please.

Audition line = "Captain, its not voice activated as futuristic as that would have seemed, the studio just doesnt have the money for something as badly written as this. Youll just have to tune it in manually."

No. 2 - this guy is literally an anthropomorphic turd - cue lots of toilet gags. The voice can be anything, really, so long as it is deep and manly.

Audition line = "Yes, I see that nowCaptain, we have a serious problem. The rest of the crew are laidin bed, recovering from the virus. We are all-but incapacitated."

The Doctor = a parody of the title character from Doctor Who. I'd love to have a voice similar to that of Tom Baker's to do it, but any British-sounding voice will be great.

Audition line = "Youre asking me? Im a doctor, not a physician!"

Chief O'Nebriated - Basically an overweight Irish drunkard at the controls of the transporter. Has to be an Irish accent, and must sound drunk.

Audition line = "Yknow what sea mammals I bloody hate, Capn? Finless porpoises! I knew a shark once, DAMN good shark, the best android shark Id ever met, but NO, those feckin bastards ganged up on im, didnt they?"

Rhea Gonor - is Klingon-like in appearance, and is the main nemesis of the animation. As such, his voice has to be gravelly and, again, American - no worries about the pitch, as it can be digitally altered.

Audition line = "Nonsense, Ive performed sexual acts as many times as Deep Space Nine won Emmys! Well, err, obviously more than three, I was just trying to be clever and use a simile."

So there we have it. I'd strongly encourage you to watch How the Commie Stole Xmas as an indication to how poor the animation quality will be: the style will be similar, although I have improved over the last few months. The deadline for entries is the 4th of May. Almost missed that off there. Good thing I didn't! Oh, it doesn't involve payment, either: I'm a relative amateur, and this is hardly professional. My apologies for being a cheapskate.

Finally, if any of you want to see the entire script, drawings of the characters or the introduction section of the animation, feel free to email me at [email protected]. The email address is the same for my MSN address, just in case you want to discuss it further.

Many, many thanks in advance, fellow sci-fi fans!

There a reason this thing happens to be sexist? I might be interested if there was a female part, y'know.

You know the voice 'Microsoft Sam'?
Go to Config -> Speech -> Text to speech (on you computer)

There an option there to read text out aloud in a funny voice, which you could record and use in your movie (maybe for Flock).

There all sorts of voices for this program (all monotoon).

I'll record you a test sample in a minute.

Grtz,
Pyro
