Yes I do.

I think that having him on the show brings a lot of great storylines as well as the first character to develop from a child into a starfleet officer..kind of.. after that there is Nog but Crusher has something about him because he was the first.

*I hope that made some since*

Yes I do.

I think that crusher is a good character, maybe not too much dynamic, active, brave...but clever.

- I agree. I voted No. He's kind of that annoying cheerful type. What was his point?

Here's something I didn't quite understand - after he meets the Traveler, the Traveler tells Picard & Crusher that Wesley is special and destined for greatness...so when the Traveler comes back and tests Wesley to see if he is ready for his new life...what the hell does he do? Wesley just kind of stops time and then leaves with the Traveler...and that's it!? What a horrible build up.

On a side note...speaking of "Journey's End" (I believe that was the episodes name) I find it interesting that that and the Maquis were made just for Voyager.

I liked him a lot more when I was about 15...I don't dislike him now, I still like him. What I want to know though is how he came back in Nemesis? He dropped out of his "higher planes of existance" just for the wedding ?

I think those who hate Wes are a little harsh.

Okay so having him come to the rescue of the Enterprise about ten to twenty times was grating but that was part of his character.

I thought the episode where he has to tell Picard how he really felt when he came and told him his father had died was one of the best scenes in the whole franchise and his performance in First Duty was not arrogant or innocent it was a true performance of what we all do when we know we are doing something wrong and want to stop but can't.

The episodes like Naked Now, Final Mission and the one where he is "escorting" Picard to the starbase are all good episodes which do not suffer from having him in them.

I really am neutral here I neither like or dislike him, but to say the episodes he was in were poor or not good is a bit of a stretch.

I liked him to look at back in the day, especially in the jumpsuit, but his character was badly done.
I didn't like the whole bumping him off to the traveler thing they should have harnessed his talents in star fleet somehow, made him deputy chief engineer or something.

The only good episode was the one with the flight training accident.

PostSun Aug 03, 2008 9:34 am    wes is great

whats everyones problem with wesley crusher. He represents the aduiences evolution through out the series. first he starts out as a no body, but as season 2 rolls around he becomes a part of the crew. your supposed to get behind him, because he is like us wanting to be apart of the crew. although he may seem smart and overbearing and too nice. his fault is that he is too good. Well compared to all other star treks picard is the most flawless leader. anyways wil wheaton is the one the best actors that was ever on star trek and i thank him for putting some talent into the show. close with patrick stewart and john de lancie.

i don't have the same problems with Wesley as others here seem to have (although i've only watched season 1 of TNG so far). he does seem a little dorky/innocent but that's fine IMO. as a nerd myself, i can relate to that. i guess a lot of people would consider me a sissy as well.

i think why many people dislike Wesley is because he's a Mary Sue (or maybe more aptly, Gary Stu, in this case) character. in the words of Wikipedia, he's a "wish-fulfillment fantasy" of the author, in this case, Gene Roddenberry.

i can see how this might be annoying in fan fics--particularly those of authors who are simply poor writers--but i don't really have a problem with author surrogates in and of themselves. it's a rather common literary tool, after all.

however, Wesley's naivet does get on my nerves sometimes. i guess i'm just not a very patient person, particularly when people lack basic good sense.

i mean, Wesley's supposed to be this precocious child genius, yet sometimes he demonstrates such ignorant attitudes which seem completely discordant with his character archetype.

as some else mentioned, he seemed completely clueless in the episode dealing with the issue of drug abuse/addiction. i just wish he'd use his head a little before asking such stupid questions as "why would someone want to be addicted to drugs?"

overall yes, but twards the end of his being on TNG, he really started to get full of himself, and got on my nerves
