I think T'pol should exist, someone had to be an observer on enteprise, not much trust in future joint missions would have been possible by the vulcans if t'pol wouldnt have stayed on enterprise on her own free will. And she was a vitle key in helping enterprise through difficult times, she saved the crew from a radiation death near a black hole.Since events happened before the federation was established t'pol should have been on enteprise, she was a very important aspect to enterprises missions and the future of the vulcans and humans.

First Contact was released in late 1996 and set in 2373. The Voyager finale ("Endgame") premiered in mid 2001 and was set (primarily) in 2377 or possibly 2378, depending on which source you trust. As for how we keep seeing the Borg Queen even after several of her ships have been destroyed, the films and episodes are a bit vague, probably deliberately, but some of the novels offer explanations.

Of course, none of this has much to do with the original topic

Its reason enough to see why so many things in the timeline have changed because of "Borg/Picard First Contact and Daniels" tampering with the timeline that has altered a few areas in future events, that used to be stable and questions answered with no problem before the 8th movie of star trek. Now since the timeline has changed so many times in areas, its unimaginable to think that even T'Pol could have never been assigned to enterprise in the old timeline since we never heard of her before and what she accomplished.

I think since star trek can't advance further into the future past picard and janeway, because technology is limited, i think the idea of changing the timeline was the key idea, in making a new start in the star trek saga all over again, just look at enterprise series and then the upcoming star trek movie in 2008 w/ kirk and spock. It sounds possible to me that there maybe a remake of all the movies and series again in the future with a new timeline story.I maybe wrong, but it might happen. If it does then im leaning on this timeline to be more active.

Jaca is correct.

The Federation was only just coming to formation when the series ended and so T'Pol never was and as far as anyone knows (if books are not canon), never did join Strafleet, under the Federation banner.

So Spock was the first just in front of Tuvok.

In all fairness it was never said in a canon production (I will admit, there is a fine line between Canon and Non Canon. Over the years, it has become blurred, either between facts that people always hear and therefore accept, or facts that people view as canon, and refuse to accept that its not, in any case...) that Spock was the first Vulcan in Starfleet. Certainly, the entire crew of the USS Intrepid (TOS Era ship, not the Voyager prototype, before someone responds that I am wrong in ship names) being all Vulcan would be a clue to this. Not to mention, with the Federation being formed in 2161 with TOS starting a couple years past 100 years after wards, in that time I find it hard to believe only one Vulcan decided to join Starfleet.

To lifeguide, no the books are not offical canon, again some might accept it as such.

She did though, in season four, she receives the official commission from Starfleet, and the rank of Commander. She didn't wear a Starfleet uniform (perhaps to signify that she didn't join the ranks through conventional means) but did alter her civilian outfits. They had the rank pips, the Enterprise NX-01 assignment patch, and the Starfleet division (science) piping on her shoulders, similar to that found on the Starfleet uniform.

I agree, T'Pol did join starfleet, and was a valuable asset.T'pol also helped vulcans and humans grow a stronger trust and bond that would lead to working together in future missions. So she deserved to exist in enterprise, and it opened up the fact that T'pol was the first to join starfleet.

Was T'Pol ever in Starfleet? She started the Enterprise series as part of the Vulcan High Command and she lost that position later in the series but she never actually joined Starfleet. That would still leave Spock as the first Vulcan to join Starfleet.
