I really feel the the registered memebers is inaccurate on this forum, there are a TON of members "registered" but with 0 post count even from the day after the site was made, In order to correct this, I think maybe we should attempt to contact these memebers and try to bring them back to "to stv" rather as they never really came here anyway and/or delete them.
and Its not a little thing like 5-6 people, the first 3 pages have over 40 people who have 0 posts. and then there are those with 1-10 posts, and so on
I know this takes time and a little effort but I think its helpful to new users who might want a name taken by a user who has not been on once.
anybody else like that idea?

I tend to agree, What is the reasoning behind keeping the old unused names with less than 10 posts?

The fact that it would take literally HOURS combing through to find said accounts.

I supose that the said accounts could be deleted through the database (less time consuming)

I had that done to me. I go back to the site and my account wasn't there. it does not feel all that great.

It all depends on how things are done. While I personally agree with what harrykim234 is saying, I'd imagine this has come up before. How long it would take varies, depending on how things are set up on the forum. I'd bet it would take a while, though.

Well it's a little different if its been 5 years since the person was on the site and they've never posted.

Yeah, removing ber-old accounts with 0 posts makes sense, but what's the motivation? Most of those accounts' names are very original and unlikely to be duplicated by any newcomers, most of whom don't post either.
(God, who joins and never posts? Losers. )

Almost as annoying as those people who join, post a single post in the Web-link forum, and never come back.

Actually to remove Hundreds or thousands of accounts. Morphy must have database access so a simple DB command like...
Code: | DELETE * FROM [table] WHERE post_count = "0"; |
This will delete all accounts from the database with 0 post counts.
However this will need to be adapted to fit the database.
I'll accept payment later lol

Keeping in mind how huge the DB really is That could potentially put a big strain on the server to remove all of those accounts, slowing STV down
Along with that, it would take some time i imagine to do that
But as its up to M anyways.....

Proberly take about 10 mins?
And as for a strain on the server? No chance.
As for a big Database with MySql try one with several million entries.!!!
You may think I have no idea that I am on about but.
I Manage
7 Webservers
3 MySql servers + 5 with load balancing.
2 Mail Servers POP3 + 2 Mailservers SMTP
adding to that 2 File servers and 3 in house servers.
I know a thing or two about them!
Oh and I am the Technical manager.!

(Harrkim234>I did not feel like logging in...)
(lets not turn this into a big old argument, K?)
Look, Im not saying I know more than You,
I was just saying I know the server STV is located on.
Occasionally it gets testy about mySQL processes. Thank you for sharing your abilties,
But If M wants to do that he can. Its his website ater all
It might take ten minutes, sure. we can monitor the load. It may do nothing at all to it. but sometimes it likes to hate the mySQL processes.
So maybe M will do it, maybe he wont. ask him?
