I have some sort of virus. I have used adaware and it detects 27 items. When I go to remove them it says that it can't do so. It asks me if I want to allow adaware to remove them after my next reboot. Whenever I reboot it does the same thing. Also, this virus makes me go to a stupid website where it wants me to buy anti spyware everytime I go on internet explorer. No matter how many times I change my homepage it changes back to this site by itself.

-.- I had this before. You need a virus scanner worth it's weight, and adaware... isn't. I got Zone Alarm Security Suite to handle it, Norton didn't even acknowledge it's presence. This is exactly why I pay for ALL of my computer's protection software, instead of using free garbage like adaware or spybot. There are some things that the developers simply don't care wether or not they are missed. Zone Labs((Aka Checkpoint)) updates thier' virus database fairly regularily, so except the time I kept forgetting to update, I haven't had much of a problem... but the price is a little steep, if you aren't fond of buying programs...

I've always found that AVG free edition is pretty good, and there's an update for it every day. I don't know if it would be able to help you with this particular problem, but unless someone can say it definitely won't, you could give it a try,

AVG would be the rare, and otherwise unprecedented exception to the rule. I've found that AVG catches most of what Zone Alarm, or NOD32 will catch, but it does miss a few stragglers. Most of the ones that get by only mess up AVG which just means uninstall/reinstall, and everything is happy. Not a bad way to start, actually. If it doesn't work, consider buying an Anti-virus program... preferably not Norton or McAfee either.

The stragglers? How many viruses do you allow onto your computer? Just don't open any dodgy attachments, etc., and it's not too hard to remain virtually virus-free, I've always found, Sometimes friends can unintentionally send you something infected, and that is where AVG always kicks in for me. Windows Vista is a little overzealous I think with its own built-in programs. It seems to block all music files that people send to me over MSN... lol.
