PostWed Jun 27, 2001 12:46 pm    Quotes from Star Trek

I think one of the most common ones, though it was NEVER said on a show, is "Beam me up, Scotty". Also Live long and prosper.

They got "Beam me up, Mr. Scott" in one show and "Scotty, beam us up" in another.

My fave is "I'm a doctor not a..."

Don't forget Picards, "Engage!", or "Make it so". I always thought those were kind of lame. Liked Janeways, "Do it", though.

I just watched STIII, and one of the most moving scenes was the crew watching the Enterprise self destruct.
"My God, Bones, what have I done?" "What you had to do, what you always do, turn death into a fighting chance to live".
I think that is one of the coolest scenes.

Star Trek VI was also good. With all of the Shakepeare.
"To be, or not to be" ~ BOOM ~
Guess it's not to be.

I know, Iain. Have you seen Star Trek VI?
The Klingon General Chang liked Shakespeare, and quoted it often. Just as his ship was being blown from the sky, he said, "To be, or not to be" it is a good scene. I also liked "we need breathing room", and Kirk said, "Earth, Hitler, 1938" You would have to watch it to get that one.

You've all got it wrong! There's only one great quote from Star Trek:

"Felis Catus is your taxonomic nomenclature
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your sub-vocal oscillations
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection...

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents.
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

Oh, Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connotes a fairly well-developed cognitive array
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend..."

'Ode to Spot' - Data's poem to Spot in TNG episode "Schisms"

- Oh - and I also liked Kirt talking to Spock in Undiscovered Country:
"I'm going to sleep this off. Please let me know if there's some other way we can screw up tonight."
