Was this ending discussed before the last season because I can not see how the Dominion could of won from about 3 or 4 episodes into the last season where the alpha alliance retook DS9.
I also can not see how the Dominion winning the war would of changed alot for the crewof Voyager, as Voyager had by the end been able to open constant contact with starfleet so the only difference to the end would of been Janeway saying they would stay on course, therefore nothing changes.
I also do not see why the federation could not reinitiate negotiations with species 8472 to form an alliance which would see them attack the Dominion both in the Alpha and the Gamma qaudrants.
I can see some pros to the alternate ending but I think the way it went was okay.

All joking aside, this could have pushed aside the rather...lower points of trek. Insurrection, Nemesis, and ENT. As much as I do like ASPECTS of those three, we could have gained two other movies and a new series. It could have kept the franchise alive. Unlike the way it is now, in some...limbo. |
LMAO! I loved the joke about Janeway. I agree with you totally. I voted the not sure thing but now I wish I had voted yes because I do feel like the franchise is in limbo. And finally that idea for a Voyager movie would be excellent. It would make the Star Trek series go in different directions that it hasn't gone before and I think would push the creative parts of the series to its limits. I think because of Voyager being not as popular compared to TNG and DS9 and then ENT doing even worse with audiences they're so willing to want to start over. So here we are with all these unanswered questions and sometimes no closure for series like DS9 and Voyager, and then of course the whole plot for Nemesis. The only way I'm able to get post series stories are through the books. Sadly they're not considered cannon. I picked up a 2 parter book for DS9 called Avatar but I have yet to read it. I have so many books that I need to read! And not all of those include Star Trek lol.
I mean I'm glad they're coming out with a new Star Trek movie to kind of restart the franchise...but at the same time I wish they'd continue from the TNG, DS9, Voyager era storylines. I can't believe they didn't take a risk and make that ending for DS9! It would have been awesome.

I never considered the Dominion winning the war, it could have been very interesting to see how that could have occurred, and the outcome I find it interesting how Voyager returning home affected the crew anyway, returning to a war ravaged quadrant.

I would LOVE this! I even had an RPG that was basically the same thing once (accept it was klingons). and if you think about it some of the best episodes are like this. Voyagers "Year of Hell" and Enterprises "Twilight" were like this and were both amazing episodes.
Yeah sure its not gene redonberrys vision but whoa im sure that would blow stargate & ER outta the water!
I can see it now...Voyager gets back to a giant dominion fleet and is rescued by the enterprise, then finds the defiant and enterprise are forming a fleet of federation & allied ships. Plus we would see a B story about the federation resistance on earth
HOT STUFF!

Founder, I'm thinking you should make an RPG out of it!!!
((I'd do it, but 1) It's not my idea, and 2) My RPGs never take off. XD ))

It would be awesome indeed! Good thinking Founder!
However... Why should The Dominion keep Earth? I'd rather see them destroying Earth, then keeping it under controll.. Think about what an impact that would be!

I'd love to, but not enough RPers are on this site anymore.

Funny you say that...
On DS9, Weyoun wanted to eradicate Earth's population. If the Dominion had won, our beloved Earth probably would be wiped out.

i would have loved it seriously its some pretty cool ending and it would have been possible since if Sisko didnt had to profet to stop the dominion reinforcement comin from the gamma quadrant the federation would have died

I didn't like them lizard-faces, if anyone should conquer the Federation they should at least be cooler. Klingons, Cardassians, Borg... The idea is good, just not with the Dominion...

You know, this was finally a GOOD remark from you! I may have misjudged you, there may be hope for you after all!
As for the Borg invasion being boring, it still is much better than the Dominion. I mean the Borg are the best designed ST villains, that's why they have so many fans. All those technical gadgets the ST designers put in for them, the Cubes, their whole system of everyone hearing everyone's voice and living on as part of the Collective memory after death. Plus they look supercool! We all wet our pants when Picard first turned around with the red laser at his eye saying: "I am Locutus of the Borg!" And the terror that the ST writers could create as emanating from that species. That was awesome. Even if you don't like them personally, you have to admit they were the most meticulously designed and presented race in ST. As for the Jem Hadar, they look like some dinosaur-men from "The Lost World". And for the record: they are the REAL slaves. With the Borg, every drone is part of the collective mind, which gives them a kind of safety, a family. None is more important than the other. Look at Seven, how lost she was at first alone. As for the Jems, the putty-faced changelings drug them and enslave them. Now THAT is simplistic and lame.

the borg arent that original i admit they are pretty cool and im not talking againts them cause i dont like them its just they are way to overated.and i realy dont see a series with borg as heroes...Jem hadar are slave you are right but at least they have emotion, even tought its most of the time rage and desire to fight they interact with each other and there is still the founder and the vorta...you say im hating the borg but i think its you that is hatin the Dominion, the dominion gave the federation 10 time more action then the borg, they turned other race on each other, they infiltrated every species, nha the dominion would be a cool scenario
