This articles short, so I'm just posting the whole thing...
Quote: | Jenna Bush Makes Surprise Call to Parents From `DeGeneres Show'
NEW YORK Jenna Bush, phone home.
The first daughter appeared nervous when Ellen DeGeneres asked her to call her parents during a taping of DeGeneres' talk show Tuesday. The show aired Wednesday.
"They're going to kill me," the 26-year-old told DeGeneres. "I'm going to be in so much trouble."
"No, they're going to be thrilled," DeGeneres said. "Why wouldn't they want to say `hi' to everybody and say Merry Christmas?"
"They may have wanted some warning," responded Bush, who was on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to promote her new book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope."
All was well, though, when she reached her parents on speakerphone.
"I'm just sitting here with daddy," Laura Bush told her daughter, to which DeGeneres chimed in: "Oh hey! It's Ellen. I wanted to say hi to daddy."
So the president got on the line: "How's my little girl doing?"
"Oh, she's great. She's scared she's going to get in trouble because I just said, `Is it easy to just pick up the phone and call your dad anytime?"' DeGeneres said. "And now she's scared she's not going to get any Christmas presents."
Bush said he wasn't angry.
"I do want to say Merry Christmas to your audience, and I want to tell my little girl I love her," the president said.
"I love you too, Dad," Jenna responded. |
lol, this is a funny story, but it's very telling as well. It really shows what kind of a guy the President really is, despite all the hatred directed towards him.

Now, I may think bush is an idiot, but I'm sure even he's smart enough to realize that if had had done anything besides cooperate it would be all over the media for like 3 weeks. This isn't telling at all, lol.
Is kinda funny, though.

Yeah, I don't think it says anything about Bush. He was on national television. What was he going to say? It doesn't really change my views on him at all...

I have to agree... and who's to say it wasn't scripted before hand?

Jenna's apparent nervousness says it all.
And what I mean by telling is it tells what kind of a person he is. What he said to his daughter was very sweet and loving and shows that he is a regular guy. Plus, it's funny, lol.

I disagree I can act nervous. Plus with his popularity making himself seem more like a day to day man is what he needs but I am sorry, nothing can help his image in my eyes he can kiss a million babies, and talk to a school full of children that will never be left-Behind but he will always be a ignorant, stupid, terrorist, in my opinion.

It does show that he's a loving father. The first thing he said was "How's my little girl doing?"...that was before he knew he was on tv.

You can be decent father and still be a bad person... and I think a lot of what he said was just for show. He hates doing things like that. I think it would do his image a lot of good to appear on a couple talkshows, that average Americans like to watch. But he doesn't like to do that.

I never challenged his fathering skills his daughters turned out very much like their dad. Apples dont always roll too far from the tree, however if it were planned, he would have known it in advance and known he was going to say that.

I don't like Ellen... she's not funny at all in my opinion... but nice bush got a call from his daughter but shouldn't have been on tv though

Bush could be defined as a terrorist. He used rhetoric to incite fear upon the American public. However, you have to clearly define terrorist, and that's almost impossible. By one definition, you could call him that. Also, if you believe he lied to get us into Iraq, then he terrorized our nation and another nation. It's subjective. The word terrorist has too many meanings.
Which is beside the point. I agree, the phonecall probably shouldn't have been aired, but oh well.

I am a retired soldier who has been to Iraq twice and I don't view Bush as a terrorist. Let's not even get into that subject. In my opinion, the phone should not have been aired I agree with that. Too bad I am working a lot lately or I could really get into discussions like I should.
