When some people think of Star Trek, they think of just another TV show, great to watch but when the TV is turned off the show ends but for me allot of Star Trek continues into life. Living by the Star Trek philosophy I have found that it has brought me nothing but a life of happiness and joy. I am interested in finding out other peoples views on this point of view.

Im the same. I try to live my life as if i was in Star Trek and it makes me a better person. Because of it i dont smoke and i dont swear (occasionally you just have to though) and i Star Trek has ACTUALLY saved my life. To me its a way of life, not just a tv show.

Hhmmm the use of the word "religion" is off putting. This show has great messages, most lost to many of the fans. The show is great and also, just great solid entertainment. But a religion? I wouldn't say that...

The use of the word "form" puts me off, as that's not the correct word... 
Anyways, a religion, no. A philosophy or lifestyle, sure. Just because it can have benefits and things like that doesn't make it a religion.

and that is what to the arugment? It doesnt seem to really add anything next time present an arugment...
I don't know about a Religion, but it certainly has a good matter of Philosphy as Founder and RM(Well... CM atm, but what ever) has said. There are several good messages in trek, to bad the fans spend thier time nitpicking over the "facts" established in trek then debating/paying attenttion to the messages

Hi, Yuyutsu Davis,
Although I can see your meaning when you say Religion, and I really admire the happiness you have gained from it, I also would rather use the word Philosophy.
The messages within some of the stories can be really inspiring if we take the time to mull them over and if possible, take them into our own lives.
Tollerance, acceptance and peace on a planet-wide scale... a wonderful concept to aim or strive for.

Ya...definitely NOT religion...in religions there's often some sort of "prophet" or "chosen one" or something of the sort...
But I definitely have to agree with it being a type of philosophy...and definitely great messages.

Yes, definitely agree with you on that. I'm sort of the person that I am today because I watched Star Trek. Mainly because my dad watched TOS and TNG.

I have to agree with everyone who says it is not a religion but a philosophy.
I can not think of any situation I have found myself in that a star trek point has not helped me with and that is what a philosophy is all about, it is meant to assist you when you have to make a decision or when you have to decide what is right and wrong.
A philosophy can be more powerful and rewarding than a religion because philosophies can grow and adapt to everyday situations, once you know all there is to know about a religion then you stop learning, and take what you have learnt as gospel (no pun intended).

I think I'm the same way...but although I've used it, religion isn't the right word. I'm not sure I would really use philosophy either...for me it is really somewhere in between...
