Indeed! I can't believe people call what he does acting, and yet they assigned him to play Captain Kirk!

I just saw a thing on the bottom of the screen on G4. It said that the new James Bond (I don't know his real name) is talking to J.J. Abrams. Thats all it said.

if they made him as Kirk i dont think it would work plus it would have to be inbetween Star Trek VI and Generations where he dies. and plus this is probably a Voyager or DS9 or possibly the Next Generation Movie being Star Trek XI.

yea, i doubt he would play Kirk. He's too old. Maybe he'll be playing someone else. I guess I could look for more details, but I really don't feel like it right now. lol.

I can see brody as Spock, Damon as Kirk and Sinise as some Admiral or Captain of whatever vessel they find themself on...or, the obligatory villain.

I agree that he's too old. Kirk was a Captain in his early 30's wasn't he? Damon's 36 or so now...

yeah, according to MA, Kirk was about 32/33 something like that, when he first took command of the Enterprise.

Damon doesn't look too old does he? I think he would work out well as kirk, and it would be nice to get away from the TNG movies that have been a mixed bag (of good and bad).
I would love to see some sort of new series though, movies are all good but having something to enjoy each week is better.

Yeah Gary Sinise would be the best actor to play Bones..... the hair color, skin tone, the humor he got... I am not even going to watch the new st movie when it comes out anyway though. u can read why in general discussion in that topic lol..

Yeah, I wouldn't blame anybody for not wanting to watch it.
I myself will be too overcome with curiosity to not watch it.

Why? Everything he's done has been awesome. All of the actors look like a good fit in my opinion. I'm anxious to see what Eric Bana's character is like. He is one of my favorite actors.

Didn't even realise this was so old when I replied. I had a look at the cast on imdb.com and am happy with some of them, a few I'm thinking "why?". Eric Bana and the kiwi should do well, dunno about the guy playing Kirk but like everyone else I WILL be watching it when it comes out.
Realistically I'll watch anything star trek related

I can't believe you think acting is required for Star Trek.
