Which Star Trek captain do you think doesn;t uphold Starfleet ideals, their decisions are off, or they're just plain pathetic?

I say kirk is most questionable. He seems to make up a lot of his own rules...and he's just not, well, I'm not sure how to put it.

Well Kirk just stole a starship to save Spock who could just be dead. Also he ordered to sabotage a friendly ship. And when the real captain went to repair some system, he said, I'm going, stay here...

(OFF TOPIC: I loved the look of Scotty when he saw Kirk was gone)

How is Kirk questionable? Everything he did was to save Starfleet or help people. There is nothing questionable about his intentions, maybe his tactics, but that is arguable.

How about the captain of the USS Equinox?

Ransom? I assumed the OP was talking about the captains from the shows, not random captains. If that is the case, Ransom is up there. Same for O'Brien's old captain that went on a rampage, killing Cardassians.

I didn't mean that Kirks intentions were questionable, I was refering to his methods. Sometimes it is more than intent that counts. I will dare to be cliche and say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Where do we start?

Ransom is the most objectionable starfleet captain (although some that are in the grand finale include Harriman and Jellico).

Non starfleet and you then look at Dukat, any Vorta, Klag, Chang (from Undiscovered Country), and that quite objectionable Vulcan who hassles Sissko (I do realise captains outside Starfleet should not have to uphold starfleet ideals).

I'd forgotten about Jellico...and I would say that he ties with Kirk for me...
