Star Trek is a good escape. It allows me to zone out and forget about the troubles of the day. I only wish that they would come out with another good series.

Okay, I signed up on this forum and everything just so I could ask. I mean, I'm losing sleep over here just trying to compute this. So, you guys are saying you're not into Star Trek. And, yet, here you are on an obscure Star Trek discussion forum, posting about how you're not into Star Trek. You're not into Star Trek, and yet you found this forum and registered and everything. They said they used to be into it, but are not anymore. Maybe when they joined the site, they were into it. Now they're not. That's probably what they meant...

Right. Now they're not into it. But here they are, posting on a discussion forum about something they're not into. And this makes sense to you? Your brain is actually saying, "Hey, that makes perfect sense to me?"
The second guy joined this summer. So, he was into it this summer, but now he's not, but he's still posting on a discussion board on a topic he's not interested in.
The first guy; 25k+ posts. Okay, well, 25k+ posts is just unhealthy to begin with; add to that that they're still posting on a discussion board about a topic they're not interested in, adding to that 25k+ count with uninterested posts. And this makes sense?
At least the third guy's avatar admits he's got voices in his head. Insanity would kind-of explain it.
But, really, I just got to here it from them. I just got to hear how someone's brain rationalizes continuing posting about a topic they're no longer into. It's just, I gotta know. I have just got to here this.

Is this a debate discussion or an actual topic about star trek is? I am not trying to be mean or anything or trying to back mod cause i am not. Well maybe they are not into Star Trek anymore but they do have friends here maybe that they care about.

Yes "chief", that's what they said. It answered your ridiculous question. The question you claimed caused you to lose sleep over.

Yes, it makes sense. The person who said it first, Theresa, joined a long time ago. She may have been into Trek back then, but is not now. She posted here because she never left the site. She's here for other reasons and saw this topic and posted. The second and third person may have joined this forum for another reason. A friend directed them here, they came for RPing, discussion of World News, etc. This site has more to offer then Trek. It's changed a lot since its original conception.

As I already said, he may have joined for another reason and is around for only that reason. I've seen people join for things other then Trek. Like say...you? You claimed to join just to ask that dumb question.

Very simple. Been watching Star Trek since the age of eight. I'm 18 today. Came onto this forum around summer time and saw my chance to talk with some people about something I at that time loved and cherished. I still watch Star Trek, but it's just not as exciting nor as fascinating as it used to be. Blame me for growing up. I still find plenty of stuff to discuss on this forum.
But if you had to ask a dumb question like that, I guess you can't say the same.
Hope you pull yourself together on the sleep issue tho. That's messed up.

Its more along the lines that this forum is more than just Star Trek Discussion. You said you joined just to ask that one question, so I take it that you've looked around? Yes this is a majority Star Trek discussuion site... but it is not the only things that are discussed. These are real people with real lives that have found other people that they can relate to. Me I joined this site 6 years ago, and I grew out of Trek... but I still occasionally come back and join the discussion to see how the people here are getting along. I put a lot into this site way back when, and I am personally proud to have had a chance to know all of these people. Perhaps you could benefit from doing the same.
Star Trek for me is hope for a future better than today!

This is a hard request 74565.
The best sentence I can use to describe Star Trek is, everything I know worth knowing, I learnt from Start Trek.
I have learnt tolerance, honesty and straightforwardness (can sometimes be a problem), the value of finding true, absolutely loyal friends( many people would not know what a friend was if they tripped over one) and the fact that sometimes in a no win situation you may have to do things that under normal circumstances you would not even contemplate.
As for those who have grown a little weary of the franchise, I empathise with your feelings.
My favourite series is DS9 and whenever I see that series now I can not stand watching Miles O'Brien. He is a humaan who is a throwback to our era where he only thinks of himself or his family (as in the DS9 episode where ODO tells Kira he loves her, just can not remember the name of it) and he also shows character traits like intolerance ( dismissing Kira's faith in the prophets in the same episode) and a selfish streak ( as in The Circle where he shows Sissko and Odo the graffiti and he says well what gives them the right to paint our station, when in fact Starfleet are only there as administrators up till that time).
I know there are a lot of O'Brien fans out there and I hope I have not offended anyone but that is why I am a little less "fanatical" about ST than when I first started watching.

I've been watching Star Trek since I was very young, probably about 4 years old. I'm 22 now. Star Trek is still very cool to me. I still like watching reruns of both TNG, Voy, and DS9 but I can understand people not being that interested in it anymore. There aren't any tv shows right now, at least they have a movie coming out next year that will hopefully restart the series but then again people don't always want a prequel movie like that done.
Some people want them to continue with the current storylines of the same era as TNG, Voy, and DS9. And after I watch way more darker shows more willing to go in different directions than what Star Trek ever did (the darkest show being DS9 so that's a step up there) but you just kind of realize that Star Trek is kind of dead in some ways. That will hopefully change by the time the new movie comes out, but lets face it, Star Trek really has no new fans since nothing else new is coming out right as of now and hadn't been for a long time since Enterprise ended. All the fans are old ones of most of the shows. It's like The X-Files. That show ended a little while ago and even though I REALLY wanna see the 2nd movie that's supposed to come out next summer, it's been so long since anything that had to do with The X-Files came out after the show ended, that I feel kind of strange knowing that the fanbase is starting up again with the next movie. It's just as simple as that, your interest kind of wanes.
Star Trek needs something new and fresh and it needs it now. I hope the movie does the franchise some much needed justice.

Star Trek is...a utopian wet-dream that is most fascinating when it holds up the proverbial mirror to humanity and shows us that imperfection and idiosyncrasies are something to be celebrated and improved through a communal drive for something that is greater than the sum of it's parts.
