And from what I read Colbert is just aiming to get on the SC ballot for the primaries - he doesn't have any plans for other states. I think he's just trying to see what kind of reaction it gets and to simply see what happens. It's kind of like a socio-political experiment

Probably so. I can just see some people taking it too seriously and claiming he's making a mockery out of the electoral process, lol.

People already are taking it too seriously.

Or at least seriously in the wrong way. Colbert is making a huge statement about the faith our country has in politicians, about what it means to be an American and what rights we have, and how broken our political system is. Becoming president doesn't seem to actually be one of his goals.

I wonder if the writer's strike is going to affect Colbert's campaign, as well as if this means he's not going to have his TV show mouthpiece any longer.

Never mind that. LOL, I just saw on TV a news report about him ending his "bid" for the presidency upon the heels of being unable to get on the Democratic ballot. The "statement" he released is just too funny, lol

So long, Mr. President!

I think he accomplished what he set out to do, actually, he probably exceeded his expectations. He got people talking, he got people interested, and (while my source isn't exactly 100% reliable) has gotten a few thousand youths to register to vote.

Not bad for a comedian

I wouldn't be surprised if a few people wrote him in.

I plan to, even though I realize he has less than a slim chance of winning.
