Ladies and Gentlemen, Paramount has doomed themselves at the box office.
http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/20071026/119343720000.html
It was unveiled earlier today that William Shatner will not even be playing an OLDER kirk in this movie, and will have nothing to do with it, leaving the only original cast to star in the movie being Leonard Nimoy.
Paramount is gonna get in trouble for that move...

Good! Why ruin it by having a fat old kirk in it. I don't particularly like Shatner either.

Aww, I love Shatner. His Boston Legal character amuses me immensely.

Yeah but Leonard Nimoy is 'the man' though and they can make him look like spock again. Shatner is just a fat laugh bag

I'm a big Shatner fan so this is a bit of a disappointment for me.

I'm a Shatner fan, but I think he's had his time in the Star Trek spotlight. Let someone else have some glory.

I was a Shatner fan until I started reading the various books written by the cast members of TOS...

Of course, considering the various directions that Paramount has taken Stark Trek since the Great Bird's death, I would be surprised if this next movie is any good at all (pleasantly so, though; it turns out having low expectations is a positive thing). If they can get through it without somehow walking all over some aspect of Trek which has already been established, I'll be happy.

I like Shatner... He is okay. Trek wouldn't be trek without him lol.. but I might not go see the new star trek movie just because abrams is doing it. I don't like him all that well.

Uh... did you actually read the article? It's Paramount that wants nothing to do with him, and he's annoyed by it.

If the older Kirk is only in the movie for a little bit I'm ok with that. If he's a major part of the movie I would rather see Shatner.
