Wed Aug 15, 2007 11:49 am that makes me angry about kess |
|
I'm watching season 3 and its near the end of the disks.
right now i'm on the one where she's staying out with these aliens,
and tuvok and the doctor are:
" its three in the morning, you should have finished
your duties instead of running around with these aliens."
I guess this is the evil doctor one
he's got his hands on kess's neck!
I'm only going to watch season 4 and then thats it,
they shouldn't have gotten rid of kess!
the later seasons are like jim lees xmen comicbooks.
At first i thought she was phased out because she was sick
of getting kissed by neelix,
I was all " that evil bastard neelix is getting her fired!"
but i read it was because there were
too many cast members when 7 of nine showed up.
10 cast members is too expensive for a t.v. show.
they were thinking of getting rid of garret wang, but he made the
"50 most beautiful" people list, so...
garret wangs got the good manager.
so that taints it a little for me i guess, because i really like kess.
neelix would've been the one to get rid of!
chakota sucks a little. right now i'm watching neelix and chakota
in a very little spaceship, and it would have been easy to write that
it exploded, killing two birds with one stone.
"chakota's runner has been struck by a meteor" say turvok,
"neelix and he are dead."
or that extra vulcan could have been killed!

She was just way too hard of a character to write for...her species had alot of potential for Trek to explore, but when doing a SERIES, not a MOVIE, most corporations tend to be less risky...so because of less risks, they opted not to take alot of possible routes with her character...
I highly recommend that you continue to watch Voyager to completion...

i guess if they make a movie she'll be in it.
then again the last episode they made it back to earth
with that time travel thing. where 7 of nine was like a
secret agent time traveler? so they'd have to figure out a
way for that to not have happened.
or even better, kess can be "screw you guys!"
and send them back to the alpha quadrent.
hopefully kess and the others won't be senior citizens when
they make a movie.
"you can hear her toes pop when she walks! this movie sucks!"
they can make a picard next generation one and a voyager one also.
i hear picard wears 4 layers of socks to muffle the noise
his feet bones make these days. he's really old.

Dissing voyager in such a obviously newbish way, with, I might add, a few letters short of some of the character names, on a site which worships voyager may not be necessarily well looked upon.
As an example: ALOT of people love ChakotaY((HE HAS A Y ON THE END OF HIS NAME!)). AND Neelix.
It wouldn't be "easy" to write into the script that these characters just "died" due to some "random" event like a meteor, because that's simply not star trek!
1)Chakotay can't die. He still has to make out with the captain.
2)Neelix can't die. He has yet to poison the entire crew with his cooking.
3)A meteor would be detected lightyears before comming anywhere CLOSE to colliding with a shuttlecraft.
4)The writers wouldn't use such badly written lines or script.

Apparently you saw a different version of "Endgame" as well.
Chakotay was making out with 7 of 9, not the captain.
And that is how it should be.

i also like voyager a lot!
people like different people though.
i personally think neezle and chakotik should have died is all.
and maybe sgt. kim a little bit as well.
actually chakotay isn't so bad.
i just finished "favorite son". ughhh...
i thought the last one was where that federation guy was
was arrested by the time police for trying to destroy the voyager,
but that could've been an alternate timeline/dimension one.
i haven't seen every episode, but i just finished season 3,
and i've also seen a lot of the "spike" ones.
also i don't see what was so hard about writing for her since
she could do pretty much anything.
"she accidentally boiled the alien ambassador!"
"this ion cloud won't stop following us because of her!"
"she's killed half the crew!"
"she's popping out babies like trouble with tribbles!"
"kess is draining the warp drives"
"there are ten of kess"
"half the ship is on fire because kess is starting fires with her mind"
ect...
that was probably the problem with the writing,
they were worried abou it becoming the "kess show",
but the doctor could've put a dampener on her,
and when it failed she could "hulk out".
the rest of the time she could've just been sweet.

Kes stays, Neelix goes... Hmmm, i like that. Shame is she doesn't get very old and would look like an old lady by season 6.

"Neezle?" "Chakotik?" "Sgt. Kim?" To whom are you referring on the show? Those characters don't exist... NEELIX, CHAKOTAY, and ENSIGN KIM are on the show...not those in which you mentioned...Oh, and KES only has ONE "S."

He may be from a different country and had some translation problems.
Anyways, I was glad to see Kes go. She was always my least favorite character. The series got way better once Seven showed up.

Nice pic!
Anyway, I quite agree on the fact that Kes was pretty hard a character to write for.

No offense to any one, but if star trek would be just like you want it and with only the characters you want it would be VvveeRRRrryyyyY BBBBboring and not star trek at all.
STAR TREK is "IDIC" Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination! I don't like inconsistency in the story line.
But what's great about Star Trek is to see how the characters we do like interact with the ones we don't like and with the new aliens.
personally I can't stand 7of 9, I agree with you about neelix but not about Chakotay, I really appreciate this character and I identified with him. How ever, beside some bad story lines, I would not change a thing.
Without Neelix it is like a Soup without Liolah root!

All i can say about you adamac is that you are a retard and have no idea what your talking about. look how a character is brought out. by what he says does and by what others say about them. by doing this you will see that chakotay is a beautifuly developed character who is wise and brings stability to voyager. the only reason you liked kes was cuz u thought she was hot, but she didn't even have that.

Yeah thats right! We don't say that about other users!
I forgot about this voyager forum
I actually like all the star trek cast. I think with chakote, the
reason I said that was because I just got finished watching the
episode where the aliens had the same tattoo as he had,
"spirits of our ancestors" or something I think it was called...
So for a couple of days I was " chakotay was expendable..."
Plus a couple of months ago when I wrote the first post, I just
rented season 3 and 4, after not really watching voyager,
(I watched the spike tv week long marathon)
and since she seems so sweet... I just had what I call
a brain fart with the "get rid of chiklotay, ect.!" scenarios.
Mostly I like movies, I'm watching 'bug' right now,
listening to william friedkins awesome 'crazy director' narration.
I like neelix too, and Kim...I think thats why everyone gets
pretty crazy over these hypothetical cast revisions.
[edit#16]
Plus this was years ago...
She should just keep up with the movies!
I liked her in American History x, when she attacked
Edward Norton with the baseball bat.
Also I liked SLCpunk, and everyone likes voyager pretty much,
so she has a really good resume. Kevin Smith goes to
the san diego comicon!
(although there's probably better, safer ways to get in touch,
with less chance of contracting the 'convention eyeball herpes')
I'm pretty sure that would be a sure thing,
and most of the time he's a pretty good writer.
[edit#43]
I remembered he owns 2 comicbook stores, one
in new york and one in LA...Here are the phone numbers:
new jersey (732) 758 0508
LA (310) 824 1373
and his comicbook store website: http://jayandsilentbob.com/index.html
I'm sure whoever would be at the store would totally
nerd out and have to be rushed to the hospital or something.

All I can say is that I'm glad Kes left, and not anyone else. I would have missed anyone else in the future episodes.
With all due respect, the show COULDN'T go on without Neelix, OR Chakotay, but Kes? Disposable.
harry too, I guess, but Harry is such a better character then Kes.

The name of the episode is "Tattoo", and it is one of my favorite episodes which gave us a great insight in to the psyche of Chekotey.

Finally Someone mentioned "Fury" Kes's suprising return.
Kes was a wonderful character, and a great asset to the crew. But I feel that one thing was left out that is very important when it comes to explaining her sudden departure. Jennifer Lien had a problem that playing an alien character on Star Trek caused problems... She was allergic to many of the glue that held her prosthetics on. It was due to this that the decision was ultimately made for her to depart from the show.

I miss Kes. I'm watching them through in order at the moment. I've just passed the one were Nelix dies. It always shocks me how soon after Seven arives they write her out and i miss her. I don't think anyone needed to be written out because they got a new character. I always thought that it was probably partly a choice of the actor so your news Tyvek is interesting and helps explain it for me. MAybe this was why her hair suddenly got longer! no need for ears.
I'm very emotionally attached to all of the voyager crew... I don't like it when any them go or get killed... even someone like Kerry.
Actually what i find more upsetting is that episode when Kes comes back as an old and bitter woman. That's so sad.

There are just so many points made in this topic that I disagree with that I haven't a clue where to begin and therefor am not going to!
But I MUST make a point of arguing with Voyager2004 and Lt. Saavik, Kes was not way too hard a character to write for.
I believe nothing is impossible when it comes to writing, if the writer is good enough. Kes was an extremely complex character, yes, but not impossible to write for. Voyager's writers simply weren't skilled enough to develope Kes's character sufficient to the complex outline they'd laid down forthemselves.
