PostSat Aug 25, 2007 11:34 pm    Borg Question

if Janeway poses so much of a threat to the borg as seen in "unimatrix Zero" why dont they just mount a huge attak with like 20 type 4 tactical cubes and get it done with besides the obvious reason of the show would end

It's called "writer induced stupidity on the borg's part" or just "Paramount wants as much money as they can from this thing."
It should also be pointed out that Janeway isn't the only threat the borg had to deal with. Just one of the bigger ones.

The Borg themselves don't see Janeway as much of a threath as Janeway sees herself as one. They let Janway stay alive because she is part of the experiments with Seven Of Nine, who has to join the Borg Collective voluntairly.

If Seven of Nine wasn't there, they would have kicked Voyagers ass a long time ago.

on a side note, there is no such thing as "The leader of the Borg", the Borg Queen is not an individual and doesn't have more powers then any other oridinairy Borg Drone. She just looks different and speaks with her own tongue to be able to communicate with other species better, so the cna be convinced to surrrender to the Borg, as 1 voice would beb etter understood then a collective one of millions of voices.

She's got a different purpose then the other Drones, i think she is more adavnced design too. But other then that she isn't very special, just another tool.

She never called herself Queen, that was a name given by Humans, as the Borg seem to operate like an ant colony.

In Star trek First Contact The Borg Queen clearly says "SHE IS THE BORG" She alone is the Borg and not just speaking for the Borg as she explained to Data.
As for the first subject - Voyager by itself does not pose a threat so there is no need to change other Borg vessels mission in order to assimilate her. But if a borg vessel encounters Voyager it will assimilate it as we saw and during "Unamatrix Zero" they did try and partially succeeded.

if the borg sent an armada at janeway they would drain pressious resources for what-one women with one ship. the only time we see a borg armada is when species 8472 are at war with the borg, and only then they sent 15 not 20. so unless janeway became as powerful as 8472 there is no chance the borg will send an armada at her. and also the borg sent only one cube at the federation, so therefor they would not send 20 at voyager. and I agree that it was also to experiment with 7

Sorry. But the Borg aren't worried about "precious resources," as you put it. Their "home" bases, one might say, are located there in the DQ. They have plenty of resources. Not to mention as 7 of 9 said in "The Omega Directive," the Borg "sacrificed" 29 Vessels and 600,000 drones to study the Omega Molecule. Trust me, their not really worried about resources.

much to the contrary the only reason they sacrificed that much for omega was because it would have meant perfection, a viable cause don't you think

A viable cause, yes, but it does still prove that they're not worried about resources. It means nothing to them because they can easily replace what they lose.

Haha...that's true, too. All because she would lose a voice or two on those ships. LOL

Incorrect. The Borg Queen doesn't think of herself as an individual; She is part of the collective. She can't do ANYTHING on her own, and would admit to that instantly.
"We are the borg. Resistance is Futile."

No, the borg strive to become perfect. If they think they are perfect they wouldn't be out looking for it.

Voyager having warpdrive would cause a borg ship to attack, but not put in a lot of resources once that ships is resisting.

Actually, in the way the borg where created it is indeed not logical they won't try to assimilate Voyager more often, but since the series was about voyager it would be kinda silly to have them beat back dozens of cubes while the entire starfleet fleet(?) wasn't able to destroy 1. Also, they would have overused the borg even more then they already did if they would have used logic which in turn would have made the series terrible.
