PostWed Jun 13, 2007 8:33 pm    *sighs* Surprise, Surprise. Lock please.

I've decided to attempt to get the Cathexis going here as well as on it's SIMM.
However, the Storyline is going to be slightly different.
Note:The STV storyline is NOT the same as the SIMM storyline.

It is now 20 years after the destruction of DS7((See the simm for details)), and the federation, naian, romulan, and klingon empires have been at peace for a great deal of time.
Officially, the union has been called the Associated Alliance of Peace Keepers, who fight for the rights and freedoms of all species. However, they refuse to interfere with the natural evolution of any specie.
The associated groups have decided to keep thier own starship fleets. However, there are persons of either fleet serving on allied starships. After the peace treaty between the Naian and Allied planets, signed with the assistance of Fleet Admirals Kupo, and Van den Haus.
The dominion and cardassian empires have long ago been silenced, as they now live in fear of the allied planets, which outpower, outmaneuvre, and outnumber the Dominion Alliance fleet.
Peace has reigned the quadrant for some 15 years now, however, a new disturbing trend has been observed by AAPK vessels.
As all starbases and Starships are now equipped with Multi-Phasic Shielding, they are immune to changes in the time-stream.
Recently, Deep Space 7-B has noted that the planet they are orbiting has apparently been altered in some form, and now has a strange culture existing on it.
As DS7 is protected with Multi-Phasic shields, which also protect it from standard detection methods, including planetary based telescopes, this society is not aware of DS7.
Or so it was thought.

Meanwhile, the Cathexis, now considered out of date by current standards is being de-commissioned.
Fleet Admiral Van den Haus is sorry to see it go, considering the fact that he served on it for a very long time, using it not only as acting first officer during the Naian wars, but as a mobile Section 31 base afterwords.
Starfleet has also put a time limit on Section 31's existence, as it is now considered a "Money wasting ghost house" with merely a fleet admiral, a commodore, and 7 deep cover operatives.
Recently, one of those operatives went missing on DS7.
As did DS7.
Word recently came through that a Krenim warship has been seen on the outskirts of Romulan Space.
The Krenim, thought to be a problem that was handled a long time ago, Apparently have successfully managed to re-design their time stream and are now, without the borg in thier way, thanks to Admiral Janeway and Captain Picard, one of the major power holders in the Delta Quadrant.
The Kazon Ogla retaliated against this new problem, and in return, the Krenim flagship Tempora Erased the Kazon Ogla from history, causing serious issues in the time-stream, which has caused several starfleet personnel to vanish, as the Voyager appears to have been under significantly harsher attacks in "Krenim" space.
So as Admiral Janeway learned news that a distress beacon had recently fallen out of an unstable wormhole, comming from the Delta Quadrant, She was shocked to hear HER OWN distress call.
Fleet Admiral Van den Haus decided it was time to abuse the Cathexis' out-of-date status to go on a mission no one had thought possible.
Time repair.
The debate about this subject was long and hard fought in the parliamentary halls of the AAPK. The Naians, still fearful of Fl. Adm. Van den Haus's techniques, and the Federation, stuck on Temporal Directive issues did not want this mission to be approved.
However, during this conference, the Krenim timeship erased the Romulan home-planet.
This durastically altered the power sets in the quadrant.
The "New" time-stream had taken away the Naian's access to cloaking devices, and they were conquered by the Federation-Klingon Alliance, now known as the FKUP((Federation-Klingon United Planets)). The violent time-stream alteration also altered Fleet Admiral Van den Haus to Captain Van den Haus, however, as the conference was occuring on Starbase 1, which is equipped with multi-phasic shielding, no one was aware of this.
In the "new" timestream, Section 31 has taken over Starfleet.
Fleet Admiral James Morrow is now the Section 31 Cheif, and Captain Van den Haus has received approval for his temporal mission to repair the past to repair the future.
Current Staff:
Captain Laurent Van den Haus
((Squiggy))
Specie: Naian
Rank: Captain
Biography: Classified
Age: Classified
General Appearance: As the naians have Aluminum based blood, his skin has a somewhat rainbow sparkle to it, notably in changing light. Being nearly 7 feet tall, and almost 200 pounds, he is not a welcome adversary in hand-to-hand combat, as he is often referred to as "intimidating".

Current Open Positions:
First Officer & ((Please select second Department Head position))
Second Officer & ((Please select second Department Head position))
Science Officer - Chief of science department
CMO - Chief Medical Officer
Chief of Engineering - Self explanatory
Chief of Security & Tactical -Self Explanitory
Temporal Mechanics & Intelligence Operations Officer - The TMIOO is incharge of running computer simulations to discern what any changes to the time-line might be. This person is ultimately responsible for determining if a Timeline alteration is healthy or not.

NPC's:
Chief Conn Officer - Commander Tramira Van den Haus ((Captain's Wife))
-Vulcan
Civilian Cook - Valera Traunnel
-Naian
Civilian Temporal Theorist - Retired Admiral Miranda Delora
-Naian

Character Submissions:
All characters must come with either an image, or a description. No exceptions.
Character Name
STV Username
Character Specie
Character Age
Character Biography
"Normal" Timeline Character Biography

-NOTE: Your character has to have TWO seperate biographies. Why? Because of the radical timeline change with the destruction of the romulan homeworld from time, your character would have notably different command portfolios. Also;
1) NO DIRECT RELATIONS TO T.V. SHOW CHARACTERS! - You can, however have a direct relationship to a Cathexis character on the simm.
2) Cannon when and where applicable. Note that as this "timeline" does not include the romulans, in the MAIN((not normal)) timeline of this RPG, there will be notable differences between "Cannon" technology and Starfleet Technology. "Cannon" data can be found at MEMORY ALPHA.
3) Due to lack of adequate members, etc. A predominant amount of non-department head positions will be held by NPCs.
4) Must be Federation/Klingon/Naian specie. Romulans will be accepted with proper biographies.
Creating an NPC!
All department heads can submit NPC characters FOR THIER DEPARTMENT.
Why? Because Department heads PLAY the NPCs in their department.
I won't create them for you, because it simply would not make sense. I don't know how you post, or what "Style" you use, so I won't force one on you. I do however, have a few rules about NPCs;
-Your department Only
-Cannot exceed your character's rank
-Cannot take the place of an existing npc or normal character
-Must be a federation specie, or a naian, or klingon specie. Romulans accepted with proper biographies.

Storyline notes:
1) This RPG takes place in a radically different timestream then the CATHEXIS SIMM. Therefore, anything that happens there would not directly influence this RPG. In addition, this RPG is not bound to the same rules and style of the SIMM.
2) Sub-plot submissions must be approved prior to starting them. PM me or MSN/Y!M me with them. I'm pretty open about them, however, while they do make the general storyline more INTERESTING, they also can muck it up, so as a result, NO SUB-PLOT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE PRIMARY PLOT.

The next three posts are reserved for:
1) Ship Stats
2) Character Bios.
3) Chapter 0 Introduction.

Klingon Technology differences:
-Significantly weaker shields, Significantly Stronger Weaponry, notably Thaleron biased.

Naian Technology Differences:
CAUTION! SIMM SPOILER!
SIMM SPOILER! wrote:

-Underpowered compared to the "normal" timestream. Incapable of the Omega Particle Cannon firing((oops! That's a SIMM spoiler. Alright fine, Kat and I decided the weapon the naians used to destroy DS7/Betazed capital city is the "Omega Particle Cannon", a weapon which uses Omega Particles to destroy even heavily shielded vessels.))

-Relatively SMALLER fleet.

Command restructuring:
After the "main" timeline's political shake-up, based on a plan to develop omega particle weaponry, which was defeated by Section 31 chief Admiral James Morrow, Section 31 successfully took over starfleet's main operations. Now the "new" starfleet focuses on intelligence and defence over power and defence. Upon "discovering" that they were not in the correct timeline, Admiral Morrow did an investigation, and discovered that the USS Cathexis, the only United Federation of Planets vessel remaining from the "normal" storyline had a great deal of information.

The Krenim - Technology and abilities:
The Krenim have a time-tampering weapon which permits them to erase entire planets from existence. This is the main reason for the altered time-line. It is also noted that they employ a Metaphasic((not multi)) shielding system, which protects them from temporal alterations. It is not known the full capacity of the ships they employ. Thier fleet is estimated somewhere around 4 Temporal battlecruisers, and about 20-30 over-weaponed standard battlecruisers, not equipped with temporal defences or capabilities.

She rose quickly through the ranks right up to the SCIS commander and chief. She retired just 6 years ago, but takes personal interest in this mission, so she has signed on as a Temporal Investigation Specialist, as she has an affinity for temporal mechanics.

Season One - Prologue - Mission Open post

Captain Laurent Van den Haus sat at the conference table, across from Fleet Admiral James Morrow.
"What's going on, James?" He asked.
"Well... umm... Laurent. We've discovered a few interesting things, notably, that your ship isn't the Cathexis that was here 4 days ago, and that this time-line is incorrect. In the "real" timeline, a planet, which doesn't exist here, hosted a "Romulan Empire" which was a rather formidable power in the quadrant. However, they were erased from the time-stream by these people called the "Krenim". Your ship, also, is "United Federation of Planets" starfleet technology, which we don't have, so it will be staying in dry-dock for about a week or two until the starbase techies finish investigating it's technology. Notably the multi-phasic shields. If we can defend against the Krenim's attempts to alter the time-line, then we can fight them. However, it's already been noted that there are significant differences in the Klingons of your time and mine, as well as the naians." Morrow said.
"Mmm. I see. There also appears to be a personnel difference." Laurent said.
"Not in you, you appear identical to the Laurent Van den Haus I know, although you have a different past. The two of you are very similar. Except that you have a dead wife, and your doppleganger does not. However, your wife, Valera Traunnel, Miranda Delora, and a few others are not only notably different, they also are still alive." Morrow said.
The impact of that statement hit Laurent hard.
"Your mission, Laurent, is to go to these co-ordinants, and investigate a temporal disturbance there, and repair it, if possible. Also, Captain, I'm assigning you this job, even though you won't like it, with those three I've listed, because when and if you DO correct the timeline, they will come with you, and as they died in that timeline, not only will they be helpful there, they have knowledge of this timeline which can be adapted there." He said.
"You also, Admiral, seem different. Slightly more worn out, and agravated by these affairs." Laurent said.
"There is one commonality between our two timelines: Lenara. However, in this timeline, she was serving on a AAPK vessel when the Krenim attacked it. So yes, I have a personal issue with them." Morrow said quietly.
"So not all that is lost can be repaired, I assume, Admiral?" Laurent asked.
"That's completely incorrect. Lenara wasn't meant to live in either timeline. However, our Temporal Theorist, Miranda Delora, suspects that if we can Destroy All four Krenim Temporal warships, now, and then again, at their first temporal deletion even in the past, we should correct the timeline. HOWEVER, we have to destroy them NOW first to stop them from stopping us from going back in time. Also, YOUR SHIP has to be the one to do it! The AAPK is not currently temporal equipped. We'd fire volley after volley of Photon torpedoes, and Mark IX phasers, and not even scratch those metaphasic shields those things have. Your ship has Polaron Torpedoes, which are apparently effective, according to your database, and Tachyon-based phasers, which cause all hell in temporal shielding. It HAS to be you." Morrow said quietly.
Laurent nodded.
"So when do I get my crew?" He asked.
"As soon as they are assigned. They'll be available. Our personnel department has a large transporter network set-up here in allied space, and transwarp-capable shuttlecraft to send further re-enforcements, something, I understand we have that your timeline does not. It allows us to restaff our ships while they are still out in the field, often, even during battle, however, I should point out that due to the ongoing war, we ARE understaffed. Some of the crew that came with your ship may stay as active crew members." Morrow replied.
"Ah, I see." Laurent said quietly.
"Oh, one more thing. I don't know who organized this, wether it was the temporal federation, or whoever, I've heard of such an organization through the S31 grapevine, but don't be surprised if they make themselves known, and try to send you a helping or hurting hand." Morrow said.
Laurent merely nodded.
"Dismissed, Captain."
Laurent almost smacked him, but instead, got up, and walked out of the office, in the direction of the docking rings.
Aldera is alive? He thought. What if I don't WANT to correct the timeline?
A bright flash appeared, and all time appeared to freeze.
"What the hell?" He asked.
A strange tall blonde man appeared out of no where.
"You can call me Q. Atleast that's what I was known as in the normal timeline. The Krenim are being aided by some force I do not understand, omnipotent beings like the Q, apparently without a temporal directive. I don't like doing this, but as I've been thrown into THIS timestream, I had to snatch you and your ship out of your home timestream. I will visit you, and maybe even your crew, from time to time, however, I must let you know, there is more to this, then your little life at stake. If the timeline does not change..." "Q" trailed off.
"I WANT ANSWERS, damn you. What will happen if the timeline doesn't change?" He yelled at the thing.
"If it doesn't change, the Q Continuum will fall. More to the point, if that happens, You, and any person who is a product of "First History" will go mad. In addition, the Federation, Temporal Federation, and even the Krenim empires, in this second and in first history will be destroyed. The Krenim think they are conquering a galaxy. In actual fact, they are destroying the universe, to allow purely energy-based beings to exist here." Q said.
"Why don't you help me directly! Why can't you stay on my ship? I need your help!" Laurent exclaimed.
Q laughed.
"By bringing you here, I have already declared the Continuum and these energy beings at war. I have to stay in the Continuum to defend it from attack. I can't stay on your puny vessel. I wish you luck, however, Laurent." Q said.
Laurent was about to say something, but time resumed.
Q was no where in sight, but he felt the being's presence.
You must do it. You saved the federation in First History. Now you have to save First History, itself. Came a voice from everywhere and nowhere.
Looking around, he saw no one.
"Who is that? What are you?" No answer came.
Then an idea occured to Laurent.
He looked at the starcharts.
The Guardian of Forever Planet was just half a parsec from the first Temporal Distortion on thier path.
Perhaps the guardian would know.
Perhaps it was the guardian who just spoke to him.
