(Btw, it's irrelevant, but I just wanted to reply to Puck and state that, it's not communism they're reverting back to, but it is an authoritarian state.)

That's somewhat what I meant to imply in a roundabout when I said Soviet communism.

Soviet communism, Cuban communism, Korean communism - it's all authoritarian. That's what communism is, by default. But that's a debate for another time, lol.

We, the American people, should decide where to commit our troops. Not the Iraq gov't.

So the government of Iraq, the country which is directly affected by what we decide to do there, has no place to say that we should remain there and the US shouldn't take those calls to heart? Ridiculous much?

I think the reason why the violence and terror is never ending is because of the US + allies presence.

Please back up that statement with a reasonable explanation, because I have to say that that is an absolutely ridiculous assertion.

It's quite simple and shouldn't need explanation. Their country is being occupied, after all.

Arm the Iraq government and it's military to the teeth, then pullout. Nothing is going to change, otherwise.

Here's a 180 for you. We should get out. At this point, I don't care what their government is asking of us, I'm tired of our guys getting killed for nothing. Sure, they did do things, liberating the country, etc... But the people there couldn't give a rat's ass, so why die for them? When France helped us, we appreciated it, didn't shoot them in the back, etc... I understand that there is more involved to this than the simplicity I just mentioned, but when it comes right down to it, I don't see why we need to die for a people that would be very willing to be the ones to fire the bullet.
I agree that the whole thing should have happened, that Saddam needed to be ousted, but there comes a point that the Iraqi's need to stand on their own two feet, take responsibility. They won't do that as long as the US, Australia and the UK are willing to bail them out of whatever mess they find themselves in. The rest of the country could learn something from the Kurds.
