PostSat Apr 28, 2007 7:47 pm    What do you keep in your car?

What types of things do you always, or usually, have in your car?

Currently, I have a little purple and white bunny on the dash, (story behind that), David Ortiz dog tags hanging from the mirror, a Red Sox baseball cap, and a small miniature dachshund figurine. That's it for "decoration", then I have regular stuff like bottled water, band aids, hair brush, sunglasses and pain killers. There are all of these neat little pockets that hide everything, Oh! I also have a bunch of CD's in there.

I have some tools and usually I keep a couple hundred empty propel or gatorade bottles on the floor.

I have 3 rubber ducks on the dash, a jacket, a BLS medical bag, and a spare uniform for "one of those days"

Ipod, sunglasses (when I don't lose them). In the trunk, 60% of the time I have a keyboard in the trunk, a guitar speaker, a weapon, and an icechest. And books.

^A weapon?

I keep owners manual, shades, phone, painkillers for long trips, and thats probably about all. Usual gear like spare tyre and jack in the boot.

All the work vans have a plush snoopy

too much crap. and since its technically my sisters car and I'm "just borrowing" it until I have enough money to get my own I really shouldn't keep too much stuff in it. I liked it better when I had my uncles truck. at least he didn't live down the fricken street.

I forgot to mention that in the winter, it's an entirely different assortment of things. There's usually a blanket, a small case of water, flashlight and batteries, kitty litter, granola or power bars, and an emergency radio. Also a duffel bag with a change of clothes, and an extra pair of socks. That's come in handy many times when I've been unable to get home due to bad weather.

I don't really keep that much in my truck. As far as decorations go, I just have a crucifix hanging from the rear view mirror. Otherwise, I just have a few CDs, my insurance card, a jack, my work hat, another hat for anytime, sunglasses and usually some papers or something from school. Nothing too exciting I suppose. I keep most of it in the glovebox or behind the seat, because I hate messy cars.

I like to keep my car clean (well, I share it with my mom--grimace--but she's out of town so it's been mine for the past month). I've got a cassette adapter for my iPod, and in the backseat I've got an emergency "car book" for situations when I might need a book in a hurry. Currently it's Player Piano, by Kurt Vonnegut.

Other than that, not much in the way of my stuff. The glove compartment is a lost cause, a jungle of insurance papers, car manuals, mint wrappers, and whatnot. I'm rather certain that anything sentient would have suffocated in there, but even so, I'm leery when I open it. I hope I can still have children after so much exposure.

Heh the southern hemisphere crowd simply have a bottle of wild turkey to replace all those things because when you get stuck, there is nothing else to do

I'm trying to remember. I haven't driven my baby Zuniga in a while... Let's see.... when it's clean, I have the ice scraper/brush and an umbrella. A flashlight, a knife, some random map that is of Nellis AFB but is actually cool cause it's water proof and rip-proof, some pens, kleenex and a tape adapter. Maybe a CD player, I'm not cool enough for an iPod. OH right... and 2 toys from Burger King on the dash... Darth Vader's TIE fighter and Obi-Wan's shuttle. It's a docking bay. Yeah.

In the trunk I have a few blankets, a mat, whatever's left of 24 packs of water, work gloves, smoking shirts (so we don't smell when we get back), and my video camera.

When it's not clean (most of the time) there are various fast food bags and cups and other trash, maybe a few books or sweatshirts.

In case I get stuck in the snow, or on ice. Kitty litter provides great traction. It's even worked in mud before.

It's in a plastic container and doesn't smell like anything. And it's actually a whole lot better than sand, when sand gets wet, it can get slick. Kitty litter doesn't.
