GUNMAN KILLS AT LEAST 21 AT VIRGINIA TECH

This is the worst school shooting in American history. The numbers I've seen on BBC and CNN have varied from 20 to 22 deaths, and there are more than 22 wounded.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the students and their families and friends.

Wtf is wrong with people lately? So many school shootings. It's ridiculous and awful!

My sentiments to the injured and the families of those who died,

Our teacher told us about this in third period today. Very tragic. My prayers go out to anyone effected by this.

I saw the Special report around...noonish? I can't remember when, they had it at 20, including the gunman. It was rather freaking seeing cops rush to the building with automatic weapons.

I was told about this in school last period. This is just so sad how this type of thing could happen, and the number of victims is just so high. The number's now at 33, including the gunman. This is just so tragic.

The ironic thing for me is, my dad's coaching a Lacrosse game at Columbine tonight. Of all the days for that to happen...

When I walked past a television in the campus center a little before noon it said that at least one was dead. When I checked the news half an hour later it was between 20 and 22 (that's when I posted this). I heard 33 when I was at dinner.

I live in VA, so Tech is a very well known and popular college. There was at least one person in my graduating class (of less than 80) who's there, and my neighbor is at school there. I hope she's okay...

TM, I wish the best for your friends. I hope they're ok, and the sad realization hits me...32 familys are not ok today...*sighs*.

33. Can you imagine the family of the murderer? I'm sure they'll be absolutely devastated at learning that it was their son, their brother, their cousin who did this. Not to mention he's dead, too. Plus all the other people at the school affected by this, losing their friends and everything.

I have to wonder what could go though someones mind to carry out such an act. I mean what did these 32 people do this morning? Go to class....what could they have done to run into this? Its just...BLAH...it's bothering me greatly.

They don't know who he is. They don't even know if he went to school there.

Thank you LB, I hope they're okay too.

Right now I'm at school out of state, but many of my friends still have friends at school at VT. Thankfully, most of them have heard that their friends are okay.

WeAz, Thompson is a sick man to be proclaiming his agenda right now when they don't even know anything about the killer.

Yeah this is just sad. I heard about this after checking my mail and so sad that people can't go to college without getting killed these days. The world is mad and has been like that for ages it seem.

These things always make me thank God for two things:

First, that I am not one of the victims.
Second, that I am not the person who has been pushed so far someway or another that they have just snapped and lost control.

Horrible situation. I am relieved and grateful I have not ever had to face anything like this.

He was wearing somthing that looked like a Boy Scout uniform - tan-ish pant and a polo I think.

I talked to my sister. Apparently one of her best friends friends was in the German class. She was one of the two people who skipped...I can't begin to imagine what that must have felt like.

That would scare me, very much so, if I had just happened to skip when something like this happened....

They've identified the shooter.

He was a 23 year old English major from Korea.

How disturbing...what in the world was going though his head?

What they know of him is that he's a loner and had some very disturbing tendancies and the teacher sent him to counselling, but no one followed up on it. At least that's what I've gathered...

It's really horrible what happened there, but, honestly, I think it's America's own fault. What else could you expect from a country in which about everyone is allowed to own a gun? Most people, of course, say that they only have their gun for protection, but if guns were generally banned nobody would need this kind of protection anymore. But on the other side, if guns don't get banned, it can become the easiest way for people to deal with their problems - and people shouldn't have this tempting possibility of rather shooting somebody than talking about their problems.

That's a disturbing post, 32 people are dead, and you want to blame the gun laws? I doubt this person got the weapons though legal means anyways, and if you think a ban makes the problem go away, guess again, it would only flood the black market as people would buy them though this means.

Yeah, we did the same thing with alcohol and it spawned the Mafia.

Anyway, I couldn't get here for some reason yesterday but I spent my entire afternoon working on this. I hope you guys like it more than some others.

Heh... heh... I'd leave the country if they took away my revolver. I'm sorry. I would. It's mine, and I have every right to own it. I know how to use it, and I use it legally. Taking guns away in America would be a terrible idea. Texas would probably have to become it's own nation again. HAH! Then I'd have a place to go.

It's terrible what these kids did, naturally... I can't imagine the feeling if that happenened on my campus.
