The Constant Gardener Oscar winner Rachel Weisz has turned down a role in The Mummy 3, leaving her co-star Brendan Fraser without an on-screen wife. Weisz and Fraser played love interests Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell and Rick O'Connell in Stephen Sommers' Egyptian action movies The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. While Fraser has signed on to star in a second sequel, Weisz is unable to commit due to a scheduling conflict. The Fast And The Furious director Rob Cohen is set to take over from Sommers for the third movie, which is scheduled for release next year. |
Might not be "world" news, but I thought it was interesting. I think it sucks she wont be in it, her character was good in the first two movies. I looked the page over (For the Movie) and apparently, some think its because she didn't like the script? Not to sure what the exact reason is...

I'm not sure, it could be that, once you sign a contract, your bound to it, and she may have done just that before they came long with the offer for part 3. However, many in the posting area on IMDB are saying it was because she didn't like the script, so, I don't know....I'll believe conflict for now, unless I have reasons to suspect otherwise.
