Owners Frantic as Pet Food Recall Expands

UNION, N.J. Pet owners were worried Saturday that the pet food in their cupboards could be deadly after millions of containers of dog and cat food sold at major retailers across North America were recalled.

I heard about this, earlier. A friend said that she checked out the news site, dry pet food is safe.

Yeah...pretty much every type of food I buy is on the recall. It is quite stressful here, and for the moment, my dogs and cats are eating chicken and people food exclusively, just to be safe.

Thats always scary. My cat eats Iams and I guess thats one of the brands they recalled, so we have her eating people food just to be safe.

I so glad the stuff my cat eats is unaffected. He doesn't touch people food.

My dogs food was recalled, too. It was kind of odd seeing the shelves where it should be completely bare at the store.
What I find amusing though, is the products that were recalled. Ol'Roy and Iams. One you pay a lot for, the other you don't. Yet the are made virtually the same. Nice. We'll probably stick w/ Mighty Dog anyway, simply because they like it.

I found out my dog's food was recalled as well. Scary considering how many other health issues they've got (Doobie already has kidney failure, and Bing is really old and has a degenerative neuromuscular condition).

Yeah, kind of the same situation. Noelle isn't supposed to have dry food because she has a "delicate digestive system", and the dry stuff can literally make her bleed. The vet reccomended Purina One for her. (now that she can't do the wet food atm) Some variation for sensitive systems. I kinda got freaked out last night because I could hear her stomach making horrible noises, and she wasn't very responsive. (We'd taken the food away the day before). I'm quite sure I was overreacting, but there's no way I'm taking any chances.

Yeah, apparently our two girls (who usually *love* their wet food) weren't touching their food. The boy-dog is on special failed kidney food, so we don't have to worry about him. But between Bing's age (and health issues) and Val's unknown history (street stray, and a few years ago she got *really* sick to her stomach and we have no idea why) I'm al little worried about them.

We overreact with Doobs all the time too. He tends to have really horrible symptoms for really easily cured things. Like Kennel Cough...That guy really likes to throw my mom for a loop

Since my cat died back in November I don't have to worry about this, but I really feel for the ones who've lost their pets. It sure was difficult for me to deal with it.

(Whimper)

This is truly sad. I have a lot of pets and they all have eaten their share of Iams and Pet Pride.
