-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas turned around in his chair and looked at the man. He remembered that a Tim Wray had recently signed on to replace a security officer theyd lost. Thomas had a certain protocol with his people so he couldnt blame the new guy for not following it.
Ensign Wray, Thomas began,
I prefer to be addressed as Commander Savior. Until youve earned the right to address me by name its either that or sir. Either works fine with me. Thomas didnt want to put the man off but they needed structure right now. Thomas pointed to the cells where the two Nautolians sat.
See there? Our guests are done eating. Get the meal plates out of their cells and then we can talk a little more. Thomas noticed another thing. The man wasnt carrying a weapon.
Hey Wray, take this. Thomas tossed him a phaser.
If they take one step out of line dont be afraid to shoot them.

The Nautolian in the cell, the older one, simply slid the tray over to the security officer, eying him carefully, yet not saying a word. Right now he didn't want to talk with these Starfleet officers; the only man he wanted to speak with was Captain Reiman, and that certainly wasn't an option.

Unable to see his subordinate in the other cell, Ator expected that the younger Nautolian was doing well. He wished he could communicate with Joman, though at the time that clearly wasn't possible.

(Just for future reference, the only chair in the Brig area would be the one Thomas is sitting in.)

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas took the plates and slid them into the replicator. After recycling them he turned back to Ensign Wray. The Ensign seemed eager to please or to make a name for himself. Thomas wasnt entirely sure. Either way he wasnt aware of just how long the other security officers had been under Thomass direction.
Let me tell you something Mr. Wray. Thomas began walking around the brig. He stopped briefly at the cells and pressed a few controls. He made sure that the cells would be sound proof. Thomas turned back to Wray.
Mr. Wray, you arent a servant or a caterer. Youre a security officer. If you want to be treated as one I suggest you start acting like it. I dont mean to be rude but you arent acting like officer material. Thomas gave the Ensign a moment to let what he said sink in.
You need to be like my 2nd, Lt. Perry. He offers suggestions, hes forthcoming. Always on time. Thats one thing I expect of my security teams. I expect them to be on time and prepared to the best of their abilities. Granted, not every situation can be foresaw but as long as protocol is followed we generally get the job done. Thomas paused again. He didnt know how Wray reacted under pressure so he decided to say only a little more before stopping.
If you really want to be helpful right now, go inventory the Armory up on deck 9. I didnt have a chance to do that yet today. Thomas handed Wray a PADD.
Heres what should be in there. Just make sure everything is where its supposed to be and check it off the list. When youre done come back here. Ill have my own special manual drawn up for you to study.

+ 4 Dilithium. Good post.

Ensign Wray Sees in the bottom of the cabnet that the Compression Phaser rifle is there. "Ok i am all done"

Ensign Wray Walks out of the Invetory and into the Turbolift,to go back down to the brig where Commander Savior currently is.

-USS Eagle Star, Main Engineering-

Ensign Farrel reacted in shock as the officer who had given him much grief in the past hours suddenly became...agreeable. He didn't expect that to happen, but was grateful it did nonetheless. His eyes darted to the random engineers that passed by them, not focusing on their conversation as they were too busy repairing the damage to the vessel. Farrel sighed in deep though and finally looked back at Tadan.

"Thank you, ma'am," He replied, "I'll do my best to get us all home."

He eyed the warp core where the chief engineer had been brutally killed in an effort to prevent a warp core breach.

"Lieutenant," Farrel said, "I need your help with the warp core...please."

Farrel offered a smile after his comment, implying he was grateful to bury the hatchet between the two and that they could not focus on bringing the crew home.

-USS Eagle Star, Bridge-

Hiro was standing over the science console, formerly occupied by a now deceased officer. His eyes were watching an image that would blur every few minutes, but was clear enough to nearly bring tears to his eyes.

Their home galaxy. Hiro sighed in sadness, realizing that it was impossible they'd ever make it home. The idea of having to make a life for themselves in this galaxy began to seep into his mind and caused him to experiance fear....

--USS Eagle Star, Transporter Room Three--
Captain James Reiman entered Transporter Room Three just in time to receive Gurna Zhaan Zotah, commanding officer of the alien spacecraft which had contacted them following the run-in with the Hiraj. The woman a somewhat scaly alien of bluish color had claimed to be Gurna doubtless the equivalent of a Starfleet captain of the Vortician Republic starcraft Sundra.

To Zotahs left stood a male of the same species. With the lack of hair, the only real noticeable difference between the two was in the face of both individuals, but the difference was nonetheless clear. There was an obvious feminine design to that of Zotah, while the design to the mans face was clearly masculine.

The gurna descended from the transporter pad as Reiman entered the room. Greetings, the female said, raising her left hand in salutation before the captain could give her a formal welcome, putting the hand down at her side before she continued. I am, as you recall, Gurna Zhaan Zotah of the Vortician Republic Starcraft Sundrad. She then motioned her left hand to the male standing next to her. This is my Second, Gorna Yaas Gopa.

Welcome aboard the USS Eagle Star, Reiman finally greeted, with a smile. Im Captain James Reiman, Commanding Officer of this vessel.

Zotah did not smile back; rather, her face remained calm, cool, and collected. She looked back at the transporter pad, eyeing all around it. This is fascinating technology, she said, turning back to face him. I have never seen such a piece of equipment before, though rumors of the existence of such technology in the past do exist. I insist that you tell me how it works, Captain.

Reiman smiled once more. Perhaps, Gurna, perhaps, he said, considering the Prime Directive in his thoughts. But for now, might I guide you to my office so that we may speak, in closed quarters, on matters at hand? Id normally offer you a tour of the ship, but given its current state, I dont think that that would be prudent.

Zotah put her hand up once again. I understand, and accept your offer to go to your office.

Then please, he said, kindly, moving his arm out in front of him, hand open, and curving it around in a motion pleading her to move forward, this way. And the captain thusly led the gurna and her second outside the transporter room and on to the turbolift.

--USS Eagle Star, Bridge--
Captain James Reiman, trailed by Vortician Republic Gurna Zhann Zotah and her Second, entered the bridge of the highly damaged USS Eagle Star. The craft was in very poor state, including the bridge, which was banged up significantly from the battle with the Nautolians and surprise attack orchestrated by the Hiraj.

Captain on the bridge, stated the officer currently filling in the role of Tactical Officer.

At ease, Lieutenant, Reiman stated with a weak smile. Thereafter he noticed his First Officer located at a nearby science console. Hiro, a man he considered to be a good, dear, and close friend, was on edge right now, filled with fury over the Starfleet captains rash decision to enter and then seal the wormhole. Yet despite the fact that it may have been unwise to put his first officer in such a situation, James determined that it would nonetheless be wise to introduce the Vortician delegation to his first officer, and vice-versa.

If you would follow me, the captain said, treading over to Hasegawa. I would like to introduce you to my First Officer. He then led them farther, eventually arriving at Hiros location.

Commander, Captain Reiman spoke up, waiting for the man to look up at the trio.

-USS Eagle Star, Bridge-

Hiro looked up from the console, starteled by the captain's voice. He noticed the two strange blue aliens standing by the man's side. It suddenly hit him that they were the first contact of this galaxy. Despite his mood, he knew he had to suck it up and be a Starfleet officer.

"Greetings," He said, "I am Commander Hasegawa. Welcome aboard the Eagle Star."

He felt sick, but not because of the aliens or an injury. The situation was still ripping him apart and he wanted nothing more then to hide from it all at that moment. He bowed his head to the aliens and held his hand up in an apologetic way towards them.

"Excuse me," Hiro said, then turned to the Captain, "Captain, permission to go to sickbay. I believe that...I am not feeling well and it might be prudent that I go."

(I'm posting this because as I said in DSG, I'm going out of town. I won't be able to talk much as Hiro.)

--USS Eagle Star, Bridge--
"Greetings," the First Officer responded after looking up from the console in front of him. "I am Commander Hasegawa. Welcome aboard the Eagle Star."

He bowed his head to the aliens and held his hand up in an apologetic way towards them.

"Excuse me," he followed up, then turning to Reiman. "Captain, permission to go to sickbay? he stated. I believe that...I am not feeling well and it might be prudent that I go."

The older man nodded. Of course, Commander. Ill be in my Ready Room if you need me. With one more curt nod the Starfleet captain turned away and led the two blue aliens over to his Ready Room.

--USS Eagle Star, Captains Ready Room--
The trio entered the Captains Ready Room, standing to the back left of the bridge. Upon entry Reiman swiftly walked over to his desk, got behind it, and said, motioning his hand welcomingly, Please, have a seat. He took his own seat behind the desk as he spoke.

The gurna bowed her head and sat in the seat to Reimans left; her Second sat to the Captains right.

You appear to have a fine ship and a crew of great quality, Captain, Zotah stated. I do hope you can recover from your tragedy and survive in this galaxy long enough to get home, if thats even possible. I am sure that this will not be an easy place for you or your crew.

Reiman nodded. That much is obvious, he acknowledged. Would you mind sharing with me a little bit about your people and what we might face here, such as with these Hiraj we encountered?

Of course, Zotah replied. The Vortician Republic consists solely of people of our race, a race of nearly a trillion people spread throughout this sector of space, which consists of five separate star systems. We are a peaceful race which has existed in harmony for nearly two centuries. Rather, that is, until the Hiraj arrived.

Approximately five years ago the Hiraj took hold of a system bordering ours, the Second interloped. We had no control over that system and therefore allowed them to assume it, expecting peaceful cooperation as a result of first contact. Yet over the next few years the Hiraj became aggressive, and it became apparent that we were no longer able to maintain cordial relations with them. The final proof of this was when the portal was discovered in this system, which borders one of our systems and one of the Hiraj systems. We had claim to the area, but no real presence in it. Once the Hiraj moved in, however, they declared it theirs, yet it really was not, for we had staked claim in the region. Ever since this discovery we have been at odds with one another, often erupting in violence.

The gurna nodded. These people have no moral compass. They care not for the death of innocents and have slaughtered many of our children. They are both powerful and deadly, and widespread as well. I highly suggest that you do your best to avoid them in your journey.

Reiman nodded. I understand, he said.

You also might be advised that you may not be able to use your current technology to translate Standard, Zotah added.

Standard? the Starfleet captain asked, intrigued.

Standard is the language used by the vast majority of peoples in this medium and beyond, increasing in number as you get farther away from the Republic, Zhaan reported. It is a difficult language which no computer system to date has been able to translate. Im afraid that it is likely that you and your people will have to learn it yourself if you are to survive here.

Jamess face showed a great deal of surprise at this news. A language, used by a whole section of the galaxy, which the universal translator could not translate? That was both difficult to comprehend and to believe, but it was at the same time understandable. They were in an entirely new land a brand new galaxy and the obstacles they would no doubt face would be difficult to overcome.

How might we be able to learn this new language? the human questioned.

The Gurna shook her head. I am unsure, she stated, cautiously.

But her Second considered the options and gave his suggestion, looking at his superior officer. We could provide them with several instructional texts which their computers could, perhaps, translate so as to allow them to learn the language?

Would this be possible? Zhaan questioned Reiman.

Perhaps, if the computers algorithms can process the data, the Captain answered. I would very much like to utilize this opportunity, if possible.

Of course, she stated, putting up her hand once more in acknowledgement. That sounds acceptable.

Captain James Reiman nodded. That would be fantastic, he said.

There is one other issue I would like to address with you, Captain, the Gurna stated. One of prime importance to your situation.

Oh? the Starfleet officer inquired, cocking an eyebrow.

A possible way home, came the simple reply, prompting Reiman to figuratively drop his jaw.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Main Engineering-

Haley Tadan nodded toward Ensign Farrel.
Yes of course, the warp core. Tadan opened her tricorder and scanned the core. She closed it a moment later.
The dilithium matrix is fried. Until we get it repaired were stuck at impulse. Haley slammed her hand on a console.
Damn it! I didnt count on this when I signed on. Tadan began thinking about the stories shed heard about Voyager. But they had managed. They stayed determined to get home and after 7 long years they finally did.

Im sorry Ensign Farrel. I have trouble keeping a lid on my temper sometimes.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas took the PADD from Wray. If they were still near Deep Space Guardian hed have already had Wray transferred. Thomas heard something from in the holding cells. He looked over to the Nautolians.
It appeared they were meditating. Hed heard stories about Nautolians with mental abilities. Thomas grabbed the phaser from his belt and walked over to the brig.
You two can knock that off or youll spend the rest of your stretch unconscious.

(Im having security in the RR with you, hope you dont mind.)

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Captains Ready Room-

Lt. Perry entered the ready room seconds after the captain. He probably should have asked permission and even though these aliens appeared friendly Lt. Cmdr. Savior had taught them that appearances could be deceiving. Perry didnt listen to the conversation that the captain had with their new blue friends until hed something about a possible way home. He tried to appear as if he hadnt been listening but hed stood a little less rigid. Perry very much wanted to get home to his wife and two daughters

(Finally! Sorry, guys; my Internet's been down and then tonight I spend two hours with Dell again, hopefully actually fixing the problem once and for all, but I'm back on my computer now. I had this post prepared for once I got online.)

--USS Eagle Star, Captain's Ready Room--
A possible way home, stated Vortician Gurna Zotah Zhaan.

A possible way home? Captain James Reiman thought, stunned. This news forced a wave of excitement through his body at the prospect. What do you mean? he replied, motioning with his right hand for the blue-skinned alien to continue, fascinated by what Zhaan would report. He gave a curt nod to the security officer who entered the room a moment before and he had pointedly ignored upon the man's entry.

Millenia ago a race known as the Rakata roamed and command the galaxy, the gurna answered. This species utilized faster-than-warp technology on their ships and, it has been rumored, had a device on the far end of the galaxy which has the ability to transport a vessel from one location to another within the universe not just within the galaxy, but within the universe.

Reiman sat back in his chair, intrigued at this story, and the female Vortician continued. There is an ancient jungle world a few systems away from here which contains what appears to be ancient technology within several temple structures. My people have dispatched scouts to the world before to investigate it; however, they never returned. This world could be the starting point from which your quest may begin, for it may have the answers you seek regarding this intergalactic transport device.

James considered Zotah's words for a moment. A dangerous jungle world which once housed this ancient civilization and could yield fatal harm upon his crew, yet at the same time could give the Eagle Star crew a trip home? There could be no better lead than this.

After contemplating this for a moment, the captain finally reached his decision. If you could please gather the coordinates for me, that would be fantastic. I would definitely like to check this out.

Zhaan held up her right hand. I will have my vessel send you both the planet's coordinates and some maps, regional information, and our Standard language textbooks to aid you in your studies. I do once again urge caution, for the space in which you will be is Hiraj space.

I understand, he said, bobbing his head up and down. After a few seconds of silence the captain rose from his seat, clapped his hands together, and said, Well, if there's nothing else, I think it'd be best if I got moving.

The two Vorticians rose from there seats as well. Of course, the gurna stated, raising her right hand once more. You have made your first friend in the galaxy today, she said, but you have also made your first enemy. I warn you to be careful and wish you well on your journey.

The captain gave a curt nod and a kindly smile in response. He walked around the desk and met the Vortician gurna at her current location.

Zotah Zhaan rose her right hand yet again in gesture. It was a pleasure to assist you. Please, feel free to contact us if you need anything more.

Of course, Reiman said, with a smile. He then looked at the security officer and said, Lieutenant, please escort our guests back to the transporter room and have them beamed back over to their ship. He then eyed the Vorticians, stating, It was a pleasure meeting you. I thank you very much for your help.

You are most certainly welcome, Zhaan stated.

Then if you would excuse me, Reiman remarked politely. I have important business to attend to.

He gave a final nod, and with that the Starfleet captain exited the bridge and said, Helm, standby for coordinates from the Vortician vessel. Once you receive them, set a course and head for the planet at maximum warp.

Aye, sir, replied the helmsman with a nod.

Reiman then proceeded to tap his commbadge. Reiman to Hasegawa, he said. Commander, please report to the bridge. I've just been made aware of a lead that could...that could lead us to home.

(Ok, it's been some time since I really posted in here. So, I want to get everything clear and a recap is in order.

1) Chief Science officer(The NPC)=Dead?

2) Chief Engineering Officer(The NPC)=Dead?

3) Chief Helm Officer (The NPC)=Alive?

4) The Eagle Star is still heavily damaged?

5) Assistant chief of engineering (The NPC)=In charge of Engineering(temporarily)?

6) Hiraj=Bad? Vortecians-Good?

7) Sakura and Tracey are on the bridge?

8) Nautolians are in the brig? Their weapons are...? Their fighters are destroyed?

9) Chief Medical Officer(The NPC)=Alive in engineering?

10) Savior is in the brig? Perry is his assistant chief of security and is leading the Vortecians to the bridge?

Ok, I think those are the only points I'm confused on. Thanks.)

-USS Eagle Star, Turbolift-

Hiro, feeling sick, rushed off the bridge when the Captain had told him he was allowed to. He rushed into a turbolift and called for sickbay, but in mid-transit, he recalled the turbolift to the deck containing his quarters. The young man was in desperate need to go to the bathroom, feeling the urge to throw up all over the damaged lift. Sweat poured down his face and his normally spikey hair was matted to his head. He clutched his stomach and tried to block the myriad of thoughts rushing into his mind. As a practicing Buddhist, he should have been able to control his emotions, but thoughts of his old ship, which was lost in Operation Return, surfaced. He thought about the many dead and he thought about the many dead on the Eagle Star. For a little while, he had hated Reiman for what he had done and was seriously considering mutiny. However, he began to realize that none of this was the Captain's fault. All of this was out of his control. Even Reiman believed that his "God" was controlling his fate. Hiro believed in Karma and believed that this was simply his Karma. He pressed his back against the burned wall of the turbolift and waited impatiently for the doors to open.

"Come on, come on!" He ordered.

He began to gag as his puke, stemmed from the stress and horror he felt, began to surface. The doors slowly opened and Hiro used his hands to force them apart, running towards his quarters.

-USS Eagle Star, Corridor-

Immediately, he knew he wouldn't make it and stopped where he stood, spewing throw up on the carpeted floor of the corridor. He groaned as he felt some of it still in his mouth. Hiro spit out anything left and pressed his forehead against his arm, which was resting against the bulkhead. A wave of relief waved over him and he felt the uncomfertable warmness wash away. It seemed like he needed that...badly. He rested there for a few moments, uncaring at the mess he had just made. The corridor was so dirty and messed up anyways, that it made little difference. As he breathed heavily, his combadge chirped and the voice of Reiman could be heard.

Reiman to Hasegawa, he said. Commander, please report to the bridge. I've just been made aware of a lead that could...that could lead us to home.

His eyes widened as heard the Captain mention of some type of hope that could lead them back home. He didn't respond immediately and weakly tapped his combadge.

"On my way." Hiro said in an exasperated tone.

He turned away from the disgusting mess he had left and moved towards the turbolift, wiping his mouth clean. Once more, he was to return to the bridge.

-USS Eagle Star, Main Engineering-

The slightly chubby officer moved towards Tadan, folding his tricorder shut.

"No apologies are needed," He replied, "I think we're all stressed at the moment. These are...troubling times."

He eyed the warp core for a moment and thought of where to start with repairs. Farrel looked back at Tadan, who seemed generally angry with the present situation.

"I understand," He said, "You know, I was actually given the choice between the Eagle Star and the USS Monarch, a Sovereign class starship?"

The assistant chief of engineering put a lot of emphasis on the "Sovereign" part, to show what an incredibly lucky guy he was. Sovereigns, due to being newer and extremely costful in resources, were definitly rare in Starfleet. Serving on one was a testament to the person itself.

"I chose the Eagle Star because I had heard how laidback and friendly the crew were. I liked that closeness," He explained, "I knew it would be all bussiness on the Monarch. While I'm a protocal kind of guy, I wasn't sure if I could handle that much seriousness..."

He didn't admit he felt unready to serve aboard such a powerful and advanced starship. The Excelsior class, the Eagle Star's class of starship, was much older then many ships in the fleet. It was easier to learn about it for Farrel. He sighed at his internal thoughts and looked back at the warp core, once more thinking about how to repair it and how much more difficult it probably would have been on the Monarch.

-USS Eagle Star, Bridge-

The turbolift doors opened and Hiro stepped back on to the bridge, looking a bit disheveled. He noticed Reiman standing there in his familiar spot. With a renewed look, he approached his old friend and commanding officer.

"I'm here, Captain." Hiro said to Reiman, slowly approaching him.

He felt a bit ashamed at his behavior towards his fellow crewmen, including Reiman himself. Hiro let his emotions get the best of him, something he never would have done in the past. However, now was not the time to discuss that. He waited for Reiman to explain what he had meant earlier about a way home...

(Savior is watching the prisoners in the Brig.)
(The Nautolian weapons were hidden by Savior and he will only reveal their location to the CO and XO.)
(Perry is escorting the Vortecians to the Transporter Room. They finished their meeting with Reiman.)

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Corridor-

Lt. Perry was escorting their guests back to the transporter room. He looked at the beings beside him.
So, is your species native to this area of space? Perry wasnt the best at small talk. For all he knew this was still a clever ploy. They could be telepathic or have some other abilities that the crew wasnt aware of yet.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas was angered that the prisoners ignored his order to stop. He tapped his combadge.
Savior to Captain Reiman. Thomas knew what he wanted to do but it wasnt his call. Hopefully the captain would have another suggestion for him.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Main Engineering-

Haley Tadan listened to Farrel tell his story. Nothing ever seemed laidback for her. Shed been dodging people for a long time. She didnt deal with them when she didnt have to. That way she didnt get into trouble. Tadan had appeared lost in thought for a moment.

She looked back to Farrel.
You know the adage right? Nothing worth doing has ever been easy. Tadan looked around. The engine room was full of debris.
Its definitely not going to be easy

(First of all, they're the Vorticians, not Vortecians Now, to the rest of the stuff (not covered by SM)

1) Chief Science officer(The NPC)=Dead? Yes.

2) Chief Engineering Officer(The NPC)=Dead? Yes.

3) Chief Helm Officer (The NPC)=Alive? Yes.

4) The Eagle Star is still heavily damaged? Yes.

5) Assistant chief of engineering (The NPC)=In charge of Engineering(temporarily)? I don't know. You and SM had that worked out.

6) Hiraj=Bad? Vorticians=Good? Yes.

7) Sakura and Tracey are on the bridge? I don't know.

Chief Medical Officer(The NPC)=Alive in engineering? I guess so.

10) Savior is in the brig? Yes.)

--USS Eagle Star, Corridor--
As the two Vortician starship leaders treaded down the corridor, having exited the turbolift, their guide, a young Starfleet Lieutenant, in an attempt to make polite conversation, asked, So, is your species native to this area of space?

The gurna gave a strange, rather annoyed smile, yet politely replied, Indeed we are. Our home system is a few lightyears away. The trio then arrived at the turbolift.

--USS Eagle Star, Bridge--
Captain James Reiman had been standing on the bride of his starship, awaiting the return of his First Officer and the report that the destination coordinates had been received and they could fly off. Hopefully they had achieved warp drive.

Just then the turbolift doors opened to reveal his first officer, Hiro Hasegawa, who exited the turbolift at a slow pace. He didn't look well in the least, but then greeted, I'm here, Captain.

Reiman nodded. You don't look well, Hiro, he said. Hopefully you'll get some sleep soon.

The Captain allowed a second of silence to take place and then took a deep breath and began to speak. I just finished my meeting with the Vorticians, and I have potentially good news. He paused and closed in a bit closer on his friend. In a few moments the Sundra will send us coordinates for a planet that they say contains relics and technology of an ancient civilization an ancient civilization which, it is rumored, had technology capable of transporting a vessel instantaneously from one location to another within the entire universe. This planet, the Gurna says, may hold the keys to this device, and I've decided to check it out.

Just then a voice rang out. Savior to Captain Reiman, his Chief Tactical Officer said, calling in from the brig.

Reiman here, the Captain replied. The man was currently in the brig, at which the two Nautolian prisoners currently resided. He hoped there wasn't a situation down there. What is it, Commander? he asked, and waited for a response.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas tapped his combadge a moment after the captain had responded to him.
Sir, it appears our guests are meditating. Thomas looked into the brig cells. The two Nautolians still hadnt stop when hed told them to.
I was wondering if I should do something about it.

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Turbolift-

Deck 10. Perry looked at their guests again. He wasnt xenophobic but there was something about these aliens theyd never seen before. He wasnt generally suspicious even in the Alpha Quadrant. He knew the enemies there. At least to an extent. Im starting to sound like a Romulan. Perry shook off the thought.
How many people? Do you have a specific mission out here in space? Perry slapped himself mentally for the second question. So far these aliens had been nothing but polite and here he was interrogating them. Perry just closed his mouth and waited for the lift to stop. He was afraid he might offend the Vorticians if he said anything else.

Sir," the voice answered, "it appears our guests are meditating. Reiman assumed he was talking about the two Nautolian prisoners being held in the brig. I was wondering if I should do something about it.

The Captain thought about it for a moment but decided that it was nothing. There was nothing inherently threatening about meditating in and of itself, and that shaped his decision. "Negative," he replied. "Don't worry about it right now. If there's anything you find really threatening, however, let me know. Reiman out."

--USS Eagle Star, Turbolift--
How many people?" Perry pressed on after entering the second turbolift. "Do you have a specific mission out here in space?

"Is it really necessary to ask these questions?" snapped the Vortician second in response to Lieutenant Perry's two questions.

"Gorna," Zotah interloped. "That was uncalled for."

The Second put up his right hand in submission. "You're right," he conceded, looking back over at the Starfleet Officer. "I apologize for my outburst, Lieutenant," he said.

"He's never taken kindly to outsiders," Zotah Zhaan admitted. "I can't say that I have myself, to be honest, but I ensure cooperation when such instances take place. However, to answer your questions, we have more than fifteen billion Vorticians spread throughout the galaxy, the majority of which are in the Republic. When it comes to space, our particular mission is to patrol and maintain the delicate balance of power between the Republic and the Hiraj in this region, and to ensure that the Hiraj do not disrupt that balance. We do have a number of exploration ships scattered across the quadrant as well, however, and a few other lines of missions."

The female Vortician then waited patiently, itching to get back to her ship and to send the Eagle Star what she had promised.

-USS Eagle Star, Bridge-

Hiro listened to Reiman's explanation, ignoring his comment on how he looked, and thought about their options.

"Can we even make it to the system?" Hiro asked.

As far as he knew, the ship did not have warp and moving through systems would take forever. Before he could respond, Savior interrupted and commented on the Nautolians meditating. As a Buddhist, he didn't find such things threatning. After Reiman commented on how it wasn't a problem, Hiro continued.

"Sir," He said, "I suggest an away team takes a shuttle craft. I don't think we should risk the Eagle Star on a possible fool's errand...no offense."

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Brig-

Thomas sat back in his chair, keeping an eye on each cell. He didnt know what the Nautolians were doing but it was bound to be bad. Had it been his choice hed have pumped Neurozine into the cells and rendered them unconscious. As it stood the choice was not his. How fortunate for the occupants of the brig

-U.s.s. Eagle Star, Deck 10, Transporter Room-

Lt. Perry had led the Vorticians to the transporter room.
I want to apologize too. I didnt mean to interrogate you. Perry motioned for them to get on to the transporter. Perry stepped behind the console and waited.

((I'll respond to Hiro after the Vorticians are off and Perry's contacted the bridge.))

--USS Eagle Star, Transporter Room--
"It's alright," the Gurna replied, to the agreement of the Gorna. The duo then stepped onto the transporter pad, on which the Sundra's commanding officer put up her right hand and said, "Thank you very much. You may now return us to our vessel."

Her second's hand went up and a second later both went down and at their sides in wait.

Perry locked in on their ship and engaged the transporter. Seconds later the room was empty again. Perry tapped his combadge.
Lt. Perry to bridge. Our guests have been returned to their vessel.

"Sir," Hiro said. "I suggest an away team takes a shuttle craft. I don't think we should risk the Eagle Star on a possible fool's errand - no offense."

James nodded, his eyes squinted. "I understand what you're saying," he remarked after a few seconds of careful mental deliberation. "But consider the fact of our location. We're in the middle of a Hiraj hotbed and I worry for our safety if we keep the ship here. I understand that we have warp drive up to Warp 4. Is that correct, Ensign ch'Thane?" he asked, looking at the female Andorian helmsman.

The officer looked back at the Captain. "Yes, sir," she answered. And we might even be able to push it to Warp 5."

"Lieutenant Perry to bridge," the Lieutenant suddenly sounded, now in Transporter Room 3. " Our guests have been returned to their vessel."

"Acknowledged," Reiman responded. "Commander Ogawa," he then said, looking over at his Chief Operations Officer. "Any minute now we will, along with the coordinates, receive some language books and other information. I want the files translated immediately so that we can learn the 'Standard' language which the Vorticians told me is common in the galaxy. We won't be able to use the UT for most of our journey, they told me."

He then looked to his First Officer. "It's only a few systems away, and I think we'll be safer there than here. I don't like the idea of staying in this place with no real protection when those aliens are mad as hell at us as they are. So - " Just as he was about to give the order to set course for their destination at maximum possible warp he stopped, shook his head three times, and said, somewhat emphatically, "I'm not going to make this decision without your support, Hiro. Do I have it, or not?"

The captain eyed his first officer closely, watching for any hint at how he would respond. Reiman already made enough mistakes without consulting his First Officer for one day, and he wasnt about to make another, especially with his protest. Yet he felt that the best course of action was certainly bringing the whole ship along with him. The other course provided the possibility of unfettered destruction which would result in the unforgivable splitting of the crew.

-USS Eagle Star, Main Engineering-

The man nodded, looking at the area around them.

"Yes, indeed." Was his reply.

Apparently, they were able to get warp back. How that happened, he was unsure...

-USS Eagle Star, Bridge-

Hiro hesitated, thinking about why Reiman wanted to bring the entire starship. While he felt that wasn't the best option, he could see why Reiman didn't want to send a shuttle into enemy territory, while the Eagle Star sat dead in space at this location. He was surprised to see they had warp. Just a few moments ago, they said warp 1 would be a miracle and now they had warp 5? How did that happen? Anyways, Hiro was in no mood for more arguing. He simply had no energy.

"You know how it is for me, Captain," Hiro said, "It's not just a duty, but a way of life. I'm with you on this."

"You know how it is for me, Captain," Hiro replied. "It's not just a duty, but a way of life. I'm with you on this."

Reiman nodded. "It's settled, then," he remarked. "Helm, set a course for those coordinates, maximum possible warp."

The Andorian keyed in the course and speed. "Course laid in, sir," she said.

The captain, now seated in his chair, moved his right hand upward, index finger pointed outward, and ordered, "Engage." The vessel was promptly sent into warp, but it was almost immediately that problems were experienced.

"Captain," ch'Thane stated, with concern in her voice. "Something's wrong with the warp drive. We're losing speed." She paused, attempting to compensate by tapping a few keys. "Warp three...warp 2.5...warp two...We're steady at warp 1.6, Captain," the officer reported, looking up.

Reiman nodded, slowly. It was to be expected. The idea that warp drive, given previous conditions, could be repaired to Warp 5 so easily was quite a stretch, and this was a logical outcome.

"Reiman to engineering," he chimed in. "What happened? Can you give us any more warp power?" he inquired. If they could increase speed it would be great, but he wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't. What he was curious about, however, was what the problem was and why they had lost speed so quickly.

Haley too was unsure of how they managed to get warp drive back so quickly. Especially since they weren't done repairing it yet. They could have warp 4 in a few hours but any faster and they'd risk a breach. Someone on the bridge must have failed to read the recent engineering reports...

Tadan looked over at Farrel.
"Must be a miracle...." Finally she added, "Or one of those unsovled mysteries."
