It's a bad word for being gay, the word bleeped out.
Ann Coulter's a jerk. I can't defend what she said. It was wrong and sickens me, and she should apologize for it. I agree with Edwards there.
That said, he's one heck of a guy to be criticizing such remarks. Tomorrow I'll tell you all the story of two bloggers that were just fired from his campaign after major pressure to fire them - fire bloggers who were working for him and said the most horrific things about Christians. One of them even wrote about Mary having sex with the Lord. Gruesome stuff. But the media, excluding Bill O'Reilly (who does generally like Edwards), pretty much left this story uncovered. Hmm, I wonder why they'd cover the Coulter story but not the Edwards blogger story? Hmmm...

It may be older news, but it has relevance here. Your point doesn't really make sense in the context of my point.

This will be forgotten in a few days, like the other story. Unless Coulter does something else. Do you have links to those bloggers stories?

Also, Edwards was not the one who said those remarks. I doubt Edwards of all people would. Yes, yes, they were under his employ, but, that doesn't matter. Edwards might not've known how they were gonn act.
I've also heard of Republican hackers trashing Edward's Second Life (a virtual reality thing) headquarters, covering it with explicit pics and graffiti. Nice.

Oh, that's not the issue here. We know he didn't say the remarks, but the bloggers posted their remarks before coming onto his campaign (at least the particular ones in question). When he was notified of them, however, he didn't throw them off the campaign. Only after the story was spotlighted did he do the right thing, and there's no excuse for his lack of speed.

I did that when her last book came out.

Actually, I don't think he ever "did the right thing". I am pretty sure that both of them quit. I don't think he fired anyone.

You may well be right, and I may give him more credit than he deserves. But we just don't know, so I'm going to be nice and give him the benefit of the doubt. Though I do think it was done solely for political reasons, which essentially negates the "right thing" argument, but still.
Regardless, what those women said was just horrible, absolutely horrible. And for him to keep them on his campaign, even after knowing full well about what they did, is just sickening.

Can someone tell me exactly what they wrote, and why it is deserving of such colorful language?

It will not be posted here, because some of it is not appropriate for the forums, but you can read the text here:

I'm watching her talk about this on Hannity and Colmes, and while I still think what she said was wrong and she should apologize (which she won't), it clearly wasn't, especially judging from another part of the very same speech (which was favorable of them), an attack on gays, but rather a joke about some rehab thing and Edwards rolled into one. That still doesn't excuse what she said, but there is at least some context for it.

I read what those people said, and I agree with most of the comments. Yes, it was in bad taste, it was offensive, but it was hilarious. I was choking down laughter.

You were choking down laughter at that? Well that really tells us something.

Exactly. So, WeAz, I pose this question to you: why should we accept and find what the bloggers said hilarious and be offended, aghast, and disgusted at what Coulter said? I would argue that we should be more disgusted with the bloggers, but that Coulter deserves a tough response as well. What all three of them said was wrong.

I find humor in anything. I view all religion as illogical and irrational, and I find vulgarity funny.

I'm sure as much as we would all love to make fun of her, we need the conversation to be somewhat constructive. Sure we can state what we don't like about her. How we think she is mean-spirited for certain things she has said. How she seems to lack a general sense of taste. Let's not just flame though. All the other constructive conversation about her, can go here though.
