Did you upgrade this computer from a previous Windows to Vista, or did you purchase it with it already installed?

The latter.

Wow, that's really weird. Ugh.

Apparently it's a chronic Dell-Vista problem.

You bought a Dell? Your stupidity is overwhelming.

The Dell's great. It's the Vista that sucks.

Dells...ugh.

Unless they change something drastically, I'm never going to be getting one.

I think that the problem is both of them, Vista should have been tested and patched properly before release (minor bugs are one thing - being incompatable with a major brand isn't okay), and Dell should have made sure their machines were 100% compatable.

I'm still using Windows 2000 on all my computers. I don't see why I would pay more Microsoft tax for more user interface fluffs.

I do not understand why everyone hates Dell. It seems like almost everyone I know besides myself groans at the mention of them. What am I missing?

Mostly the quality for me. I feel like their machines just aren't as well built. But I'll admit I'm very particular about my computers.

I just bought a new computer today, it has Vista on it. This is the first time I'm using it. It's alright, I don't have any problems with it.

Strange, TM. The best luck I've had so far, really, is my Dell machine. I've had acouple other ones that were just BLAH!

Yeah...I've got a Compaq desktop at home. Those are all pretty basic computers. For the most part they work, and if you baby them they will work well. But my impression is that they aren't really meant for a ton of wear and tear.

I had an HP before we had this Dell. On a scale of 1-10 the HP was a 4 and the Dell is an 8. (I will never buy another HP) I have had no major problems since I got this computer (besides the ones that were my fault). Maybe I just got lucky .
