I'd have to agree. iPods make you forget "stop, look and listen", (though we could discount the listening bit) ((but in NY, what can you hear anyway?))

Yeah, I am conflicted, I can see their point over this, but then again...

That's what I'm thinking. Although, technically aren't there walk lights for pedestrians? I should think that if you get hit jaywalking you're at fault to begin with (unless it was malicious).

This is yet another example of government overstepping its bounds.

If people can't remember to look both ways before crossing, then that's their own fault.

Exactly. Stupidity isn't reason enough for the government to ban the use of a certain technology in certain instances.

TM and Puck both have a point, theres safety devices and warnings already in place for crossing the street. If you get hit, the first blame shouldn't be "Oh, he's using the iPOD, BAN it!"

The iPod is what we call a "scapegoat" for the real problem - stupid idiots who let their blatant incompetence get the best of them.

This is crazy.... People are responsible for their actions.... Banning ipods that is the most crazier thing I have heard today.

Maybe you should ban deaf and blind people from crossing the street, too
