PostSun Jan 21, 2007 3:31 pm    Cambodian Jungle Woman Recovered; Questions Abound

Quote:
Fate of Cambodian Jungle Woman's Missing Sister Remains a Mystery

The father sets hot water before his daughter in their wooden shack. She reaches out to touch it. Then she recoils in shock and runs from the room.

After 18 years lost in the jungles of northeast Cambodia, she has forgotten what hot water is, along with all the other rudimentary comforts of peasant life.

This weekend the questions are multiplying about how the girl vanished in 1989, what she endured in the jungle and why she was not found until villagers stood guard to catch a thief last weekend.

Read more here.

Intriguing, to be sure.

She must be incredibly brave and strong to have survived all this time.

Hopefully she will be able to be reintegrated into the culture. Most humans who have grown up away from any human contact have an extremely difficult time learning language, social skills, and other basic human abilities.

They're not even sure if she lived so many years in the wild, she could also be very traumatized from something, like a rape or whatever. There are a lot of .. how do you say it, groups? that live there in that eara. I read that in a newspaper. I hope they do a DNA test, maybe that'll give some answers. Or more questions.
