The president concedes that his decisions have led to more instability in Iraq. President Bush made the admission in an exclusive interview with Scott Pelley at Camp David yesterday (12), his first interview since addressing the nation about Iraq. It will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, Jan. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

I may...This is interesting, though, how he's now admitting to all sorts of mistakes he's made and stuff. If this doesn't help to change any liberal's minds about him at all, I don't know what will. Of course they'll say "it's too late." Humbug.

I don't base my opinion on what someone says, but on what one does.

Well, okay. He's shifted his policy this week. Does that help at all for you? And I think one of the things the Left has been mad about is his lack of admission of mistakes and so forth, hence why I think this should clear something up for them.

I would prefer a leader who doesn't make mistakes, personally, but then again, I'm too picky.
Admitting mistakes is not necessarily a good quality for a leader, actually. In some cases it is necessary for a leader to be accountable for their actions, however, they have to tread that line quite carefully, lest they appear weak.
While I personally disagreed with the policies that Bush approved, I respected the fact that he was behind the decisions because he believed that he was doing the right thing. Now that he is admitting he was wrong, I think that the media and public will have a field day tearing him apart. When the dust clears, well, the status quo will be largely unchanged.
This is a good thing for the United States in general, however. Remember: the first step to solving a problem is admitting one exists.

After watching this, I have much more confidence that Bush does indeed know what he is doing, and he does have a plan.

I agree. He didn't so much as say, "this was wrong", except for the prison stuff, and some wording, as much as take ownership. "Don't blame the troops, blame me".

I watched a little bit of it. I was watching another show, however, so I recorded it. I, too, was impressed with what I saw, however. I hope this interview helps him out in the public eye. He deserves it.

Its a big change from 4 months back, when all he did was sprinkle "Stay the Course" over his speeches.
