Erm.............none of the above are realistic...and by that I mean none of the above mentioned in previous POSTS.

Then again, I don't think any of the poll choices are all that realistic either.......we don't even know if there's going to BE a next series.....if there is one coming, I doubt they'll go with ANOTHER female lead....although I HEART JANEWAY VERY MUCH, so don't get me wrong on the producers' idea to go with a female for VOY.

Anyway....IF they do.....which I doubt very much....

I think they should get someone like Susanna Thompson....someone we're already slightly familiar with, not overly so...

I'd say Glenn Close because she's a damn good actress. It's either her or Gates McFadden, or possibly another actress.

PostFri Jul 21, 2006 7:09 am    Other Actoress

Another actoress because then they'd do a few eps about her then involve some twist, just to make it worth watching

I think if Seven went into Starfleet Academy after they get home, and worked her way up to captain, I think that would be very interesting. I think with the proper training, she'd actually make a good captain.

I think it should be a dude. It's sci-fi, but face it, they gotta keep a sense of realism!

If those are my choices then I say it's between Gates McFadden and Glen Close. If it is Gates McFadden though she would obviously have to be a promoted Dr. Crusher for it to work.

I'm not on board with McFadden. She just does not have enough authoritative presence in the series or as an actress to really sell me on the idea of her being a Captain.

The next captain has got to be able to do action. I was listening to that recent interview with Garret Wang about how they never had Janeway do any action sequences because Mulgrew can't run or do action. I cannot honestly believe that McFadden would be able to do that. In part, that is why I don't like TNG as much as I used to. Stewart was so stoic as a Captain and definately not the rebellious take action, beam to the surface, always in another jam captain that Kirk was. In a sense, Janeway was written as more of that "type" of Captain, but Mulgrew's limitations hurt that progressing farther.

So if we're going to have a female Captain, let's get someone who can do the action and show plenty of authority as an actress.

My pick would be Milla Jovovich, but she would never do Trek...I don't think.

I agree too, this could be interesting although she would only live for 9 years tops.

I think troi should be the next captain, she has had experience aboard the enterprise-d , and has captain riker to give her more pointers and instruction as time goes along.

(Troi) has my vote

I agree, b'elanna or troi should be the next female captain

But i think troi would want to stay with will riker on the titan as would b'elanna with tom paris, the next female captain,(if there is one) will be someone that we dont know much of.
