PostSun Dec 17, 2006 10:16 pm    The Warriors of Light

Centuries ago, the world of Katar was once whole and peaceful...

However, one day, a powerful sorcerer by the name of Xexat appeared, seeking power...

Xexat rained death and destruction down upon the citizens of Katar, with his hordes of demons and spirits fighting for him...

In the midst of the darkness, a group of warriors emerged to combat Xexat and his demonic army. These five warriors, the warriors of light, fought Xexat, with legendary weapons, bestowed upon them from the Gods. In the end, Xexat was defeated. However, victory does not come without a price...

The world of Katar was split into two; the world of the living and the world of the demons. Between the two worlds lay the Void, where Xexat was banished, sealed by the five legendary warriors, to rot for all eternity...

Now, hundreds of years later, the people of Katar live in peace. Yet, whispers of the darkness emerge. Rumors of demons and evil spirits from the demon world appearing in the world of the living spread across the land...

As darkness engulfs the mortal world, once more, five new warriors emerge, to combat the new threat...These warriors are...

The Warriors of Light

Organizations

The Order of the Zenigage

An order of samurai, tasked with hunting the One, the demons from the demon world, to protect the citizens of Katar. The order is named after its founder, Zenigage, a powerful swordsman and one of the original Warriors of Light, who helped defeat Xexat, all of those years ago. Zenigage's ancient and magical katana, the Murasame, is passed down from generation to generation, to be used to rid the world of demons, with its current owner being Zenigage's descendent, Jen Zi.

The Brotherhood of the Blade

A mysterious group of men from the Far West of Katar, these men vow their lives to maintain the seal on Xexat's soul and maintaining order, between the mortal and demon worlds. These virtuous knights serve the people of Katar, secretly, never revealing their identities, while tirelessly working to keep the peace.

Shirahadori - The School of the Martial Arts

A school of the ancient and revered martial arts of yore, Shirahadori is located in the Imperial City, the capital of Katar. The brightest of the bright martial arts students come from around the world to the illustrious school to learn from the best of the best, in order to hone their martial arts skills. The school was founded by Shirahadori, one of the original Warriors of Light, who was a master of the martial arts. Shirahadori created the school in order to teach the masses the art of martial arts, during the War of the Demon-King.

The Sisterhood of the Ianuki

A female-only group of ninjas, the Sisterhood of the Ianuki are thieves who steal from the rich and give to the poor of Katar, a la Robin Hood. The members of the Sisterhood are scattered throughout the land, all remaining hidden from the eye of the law. The group was created by Ianuki, one of the original five Warriors of Light, a ninja who had been cast out of her ninja clan for being a woman.

The Cult of the Demon-King

A mysterious cult of demon worshippers, this group longs for the revival of Xexat and the merger of the mortal and demon worlds. Little else is known about this group, however, cult members are known to be dangerous, going to extremes for their cause. The cult is shunned by the public and members of the cult are forced to live double-lives. Rumors circulate that the cult is somehow behind the recent insurgence in demons and evil spirits in the land of the living.

Chapter One

Scarlet Dusk

It was night in the Imperial City. All was quiet. Everyone had gone to bed, by now. A curfew had been put into effect in the massive city, by the Emperor of Katar, Emperor Sun Li, after rumors of demons breaching the dimensional rift and coming to the land of the living. The glistening moon glowed a bright yellowish color, above, twinkling, high in the sky. The stars, up in the heavens, light up the sky. The constellations of the Warriors of Light could easily be seen, without a telescope. It was a clear, quiet night. No movement could be seen on the desolate streets of the slums of the Imperial City. The peasants had returned to their shacks, while the beggars had found stumbled into a gutter, somewhere, to sleep off their drunkeness. The only movement whatsoever was the rustling of the Imperial banners, which waved in the gentle breeze of the night. However, out of the darkness, a lone figure appeared...

A young woman, of about twenty years or so, walked down the dusty cobblestone street, the sounds of her wooden sandles clicking and clacking on the stone pathway echoing down the narrow street. She was dressed in a long brown cloth robe, which was billowing in the wind. Her long black hair was tied up in a bun, above her head, with scarlet red berets holding her hair in place. Her skin was delicate and fair. Her bright green eyes reflected the shining moon, above. She had thin curved lips, which formed her small mouth. One could guess the woman had an excellent figure, however, one couldn't tell, due to the thick robes the woman wore. One of her pale hands lay at her side, while the other was inside of her robe. The woman had a mysterious look in her eyes, as she glanced around her, at the empty street, as if she were looking for something. An unexplainable mysterious aura surrounded the young woman, as she moved with such grace, down the street, her feet seeming to glide above the stone street. She was something else...

Suddenly, something could be heard coming from the vast darkness ahead. A movement of sorts. Out of the darkness came a masked swordsman, with a katana in hand. An Oni mask adorned his face, with glowing red eyes peering out through the eye holes. Both of his gloved hands were tightly gripped around his katana, which was long, sharp, and formidable-looking. A nasty weapon, indeed. One wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of such a weapon. The man had long black hair, which was tied back in a spiky ponytail. The man wore no shoes. The swordsman was dressed in a long indigo robe, with ornamental white markings around the bottom, shaped as waves. The robe was open at the chest, revealing a finely-honed, chisled, and muscled body. All in all, the man was a formidable-looking opponent, on the whole.

"Wielder of Murasame!" the fierce-looking swordsman called out at the robe woman, his voice obscured by the mask. Despite the mask blocking out his voice, one could still hear the evil in the man's voice, the darkness deep within his soul. The man certainly had a dark aura surrounding him, in contrast to the aura of light emanating from the woman. "I am a servant of the almighty Xexat! The Demon-King bids you his greetings and invites you to the demon world. My lord says there is always room for a descendant of Xexat in his realm!" the swordsman shouted, in a sadistic voice, before the man began to laugh, maniacally and hysterically. Meanwhile, the woman merely scoffed, with a sneer appearing on her thin lips.

"You can tell your master that the Murasame longs to greet him in battle, once more..." the woman replied, her voice calm, cool, and collected. The grace seen in her movements could be heard in her voice. There was something different about this woman...the aura she emanated was powerful. She was a force to be reckoned with, despite being so young. "...that is, if you survive! Come!" the woman spat, before she cast aside her robe, revealing her true self.

Beneath the robe, the woman wore a short scarlet red tunic, which tightly clung to her body. The robe fell to her thighs, revealing her long muscled legs. Her pale skin glistened in the bright moon light. A black dragon was embroided into the right side of the red fabric of the sleeveless tunic, the symbol of Zenigage, himself. A long black leather sheath was strapped to her side. Within the sheath lay the Murasame, the ancient and powerful magical sword, once wielded by Zenigage, himself. The ancient katana was passed down from generation of generation of the Zenigage ancestry, all the way down to its current owner, the "Scarlet Dusk", Jen Zi.

"Hah! You think you can defeat me, maggot?" the masked swordsman shouted, in his sadistic tone of voice. "I doubt it. Let us see the true power of this Murasame! I'm sure that my master would love to add Zenigage's own weapon to his personal collection...and to see you in hell!!!" the swordsman cried, before he lunged out at Jen Zi, his wide mouth open and his pointed yellow teeth bared, in a threatening manner. Jen Zi simply withdrew her sword from her sheath and brought it out in front of her. The Murasame glistened in the moonlight. The long blade was made out of pure silver and the hilt was adorned with jewels; sapphires, rubies, ectera. The sword was an absolute masterpiece, having been made by the finest craftsmen both worlds had to offer. The Murasame...

"Give me your strength..." Jen Zi whispered to the long silver blade, with her eyes closed and her mind and soul focused, as she attempted to summon the power of the katana's former owner into the blade. Suddenly, the blade began to shake and glow a dark red, as markings in the Old Tounge appeared on the side of the blade, in glowing orange letters. The fiery sword looked as if it were aflame. Power coursed down the blade, the shaft, and into Jen Zi's body. Her eyes turned red, as the soul and power of Zenigage fused with her own.

Now, with the sword's power hers to control, Jen Zi rushed forward, sword outstretched, shouting a battlecry in the Old Tounge, ready to greet the demonic swordsman. Seconds later, the two swordsmen clashed, the two katana's striking one another, with fiery sparks flying from the point of impact, to shower the dusty road. The two fighters recoiled and came at each other, again, only to have the attacks be parried, once more. The two continued at this for what seemed an eternity, striking at the other, only to have their blow blocked. It was a ballet, of sorts, as the two fighters majestically "danced" on the dance floor, weaving in and out, dodging and parrying blows...It was quite a sight.

At length, Jen Zi had managed to push the demonic swordsman back. As the evil swordman attempted to collect his breath, Jen Zi mustered the power of the sword, a glowing symbol appearing on her forehead, the mark of Zenigage. With power coursing through her veins, she leapt up, ten feet into the air, a super-human feat, and brought the legendary katana down to the ground, the blade embedding itself into the cobblestone street, sending a crack down the narrow road. The crack ran down the path, until it reached the demonic swordsman. The man had nearly stumbled into the crack, before managing to leap into the air, just in time, to avoid the attack. However, while the man was in the air, Jen Zi had leapt up, herself, with her sword in front of her. The two met each other in the air. When the two reached the ground, Jen Zi landed on her feet, safely, without so much as a scratch on her being, while the demonic swordsman hit the ground in two pieces, having been cleanly cleaved in half by the Murasame, sending a shower of blood and entrails down upon the cobblestone street.

With the swordsman dead, Jen Zi sheathed her sword, the glow disipating from the sword and the markings on her body disappearing. She let out a sigh of relief, after defeating the demonic swordsman, a servant of Xexat. A moment later, after collecting herself, she strode over to where she had left her robe, to lie on the blood-soaked street, scooping the brown cloth robe up in her arms and pulling it back on, in one quick motion. Now, her body enshrouded by the robe, she turned around and continued down the street, as if nothing had happened, leaving a path of destruction behind her; a massive crack running down the street and what was left of a demon.

"Give my regards to your master..." Jen Zi breathed, softly, as she was lost into the darkness...
