You wouldnt think that NBC could afford to lose a hit show right now, but thats what may happen.
Sources tell me that NBC is playing hardball with stars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni, not wanting to pay them big increases if they stay for a ninth season next fall.

That would suck for them to leave, but why end it? They dont with the regular one when people leave...

That's Dick Wolf's policy, yes. But it looks like the NBC executives don't really care about the show, and this isn't Wolf's doing.

NBC would be stupid, its quite public what SVU has done for the station for the last 8 years.

The same thing with the Regular one, they moved it to friday and it took a drop in ratings.

I know, yeah. I think NBC needs some new executives at the helm or something, y'know?

"the ratings for 'Law & Order SVU' are what make this news all the more perplexing. The show wins its Tuesday night time slot easily every week, with an average 9.4 rating and a 16 share.
Ironically, the ratings have only gone up as the fall season has plodded along, making SVU one of the lone shining lights in the otherwise dimmed NBC firmament."
- What!? NBC is willing to lose SVU - how wise a move is that? I mean the network isn't doing so well, why lose a show that's actually making the network float!?

Dont know about Chris...but Mariska confirmed during the red carpet on the SAG's that she'll be there for 2 more seasons. So i'm sure Chris will be back too.

Mariska's been nominated for the past three years, won once last year. And Chris has been nominated once, last year, didnt win. I dont know about this year.
