My friend asked me this question and I would like an answer. Dont say Species 8472 or the Hologram Doctor.
Any other answers are greatly appreciated. Keep in mind it has to be a main character he says... Thanks...

I dont know, I am try to get the answer to tell him, he knows and said the explanation takes a while to understand but the reason came from a novel by William Shatner but the novel is not canon...

As far as Kirk Mind Melding with spock I think the Human brain wouldnt be able to adapter to the Vulcan brain?

dax. Trill are hosts to a symbyote, in essence a joined trill would be two life forms. trill probly can be assimilated but how can a symbyote be assimilated?

The female shapeshifter (head founder of the dominion) is the only other character besides odo and dax, that can't be assimulated by the borg.

So your saying that a mind-meld will keep the borg from assimulating a vulcan or human? A Vulcan's and Human's skin can't stop the borg nano tubicals from entering the body, i dont care if you are in a mind-meld or drinking vulcan mint tea, you will be assimulated.Maybe it will take awhile to adapt to the vulcans superior brain and the humans willfullness to keep on fighting, but the borg will adapt and will eventually win.
I noticed on enterprise that t'pol and trip melded and it helped them to be immune to certain situations, but resisting assimulation is rather hard to believe with penatratable skin.
