PostSat Dec 09, 2006 4:13 am    Windows Media Player 11...Who uses it?

Does anyone else have this...'upgrade' yet? I just got it, it's annoying, and I checked the community board, there are TONS of problems going on with it.

Couple with me are:

All the Skins are small (Save for the defualt and its way differnt then9/10)
The Media (Well songs at least) do not display a total time (I frankly prefer that displayed, and cannot figure out how to have it displayed)
When I start the program the defult screen is the Libary...dont like that...I dunno how to change that to....

Anyways, anyone else use this program? Complaints? Praises? Speak your mind!

I personally won't go anywhere near it. I hate WMP 10 enough, I really liked 9 a lot.

Agreed. Windows Media Player 10 is nasty. Last night it asked me if I wanted to update, and I definately chose not to.

iTunes

The only thing made by Microsoft I have on my computer is the office suite (word, excel, and power point).

Amen to that. I only use WMP for movie playing, because none of the others are overly reliable and can play most formats. I don't like the iTunes video player, I hate winamp, and the divx player doesn't really play that well in the newer versions.

iTunes is meh. I like the program, but it wants to store stuff in the libary when I try to use it, I can never figure it out, Winamp does suck, and I used Divix for the codec.

VLC player. It's open source and plays everything.

iTunes I don't think was intended to play many video formats other than stuff for the iPod. My computer (mac) has a special DVD player which I don't really use.

A friend of mine downloads a lot of anime and other evil things, and he uses VLC. He swears by it because it plays everything, but I absolutely hate it. I just am quite picky in my selection of media players.

I am to, I have just grown used to WMP. I never got into VLC, becuase it just seemed weird to me. Another one thats fun to use is BC Player (Make screenies!) use an old version though, the newones force you to sign up for ad programs befor it works.

BOT...

It seems decent, WMP 11, but its one of those things that what wasnt broke, was fixed. *sighs*

I actually had a video playing program that came with my last video card for my video capture functions. It was really nice, and I was able to record stuff I did on my computer, like if I played games, I could record it. But the video player itself worked well too. I was able to take an episode of Enterprise and screenshot a part of the episode because there was a picture I wanted. But that's TV capture, and an entirely different subject all together.

Might I ask why? Of all the media (specifically video) players I've seen it's easily the most versitile in terms of file formats.
