http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/12/01/netherlands.school.ap/index.html

This maybe not real world news, but it is terrible what this man did. They suspect he didn't have any motive as well, luckily the child's classmates didn't see him lying there...

(Hope this is in the right section, as I don't know where else to put it)

It is horrible, last week a 13 year old boy was murdered in Palmyra. Thats not far from my home. /shudder.

Someone has been arrested and charged for that one, though. He's apparently nuts.

In my opinion, everything has to do with parenting and childhood development along with proper upbringing. When you make a strong statement to your child against hurting people, this principle and traits will get passed on from you into them and will be ingrained in them forever. The parents of a child will help to nuture and craft the child's conscience and morales. I think murderers become murderers due to their violent tendencies as a child or due to some kind of chronic inner hate. This should be detected by their parents at an early age and he should go for counselling.

^ But the sad truth is that much parents don't do that. And don't forget that sometimes parents don't have the power, or knowledge, to understand what's going on, or to seek professional help. I've worked with kids who were, basically, screwed up by their parents. It's their responsibility they got like that, I agree with you, but you can't always do something about it. And then there's genes, you can inherit things from your parents too, you can also develop stuff because of a trauma you endured, and you've got nothing to choose in that case.

It's horrible that it happend, and the suspect is just 22 years old.. Unbelievable. I hope he'll be put away for a lot of years and gets treatment. But it can never bring back that kid, horrible.

Yup, I agree, that's always the problem, not being able to detect and isolate the problem or complication in the first place to even ameliorate the situation.
