PostFri Dec 01, 2006 12:33 pm    Aides: Reyes to chair Intelligence panel

Quote:
House Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi has chosen a border-Patrol-agent-turned-congressman to lead the House Intelligence Committee, according to congressional aides.

Democratic leaders are contacting congressional and other political officials to tell them Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, will be the new chairman of the committee when Democrats take over in January, said the two aides, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they considered it an internal party issue.

I'm glad she didn't pick Jane Harman or Alcee L. Hastings, who both seem somewhat corrupt.

Jane Harman wasn't chosen simply because she was another female from California who could hurt Pelosi in a number of ways, simple as that.

I don't care what reason Pelosi had, she made the right move.

She is under investigation, that would immediately remove her from being a possible chairman IMO. As for Hastings, he was impeached as a judge.

But it wouldn't. Just look at Hastings. He was still being considered, and he was, as you said, impeached.

The right move was made, yes, but her reasons are certainly suspect.
